Learning to be a Stewardess in the Sixties. That was fun, those were the days. “The treatment of an “able-bodied man” versus “child” and “Army Sergeant” varied as well.”
Fascinating, I had no idea that this happens to them. Where Oil Rigs Go To Die.
The headline is kind of click baity but it was interesting to learn about this guy: 7 money-making lessons from the richest man who ever lived.
Not sure why but we have been on a nuclear bunker link fest lately. Here is another one, under the English town of Corsham.

first while waiting in line for the world’s fastest roller coaster
TBBTheDude says
Where?
Brenton says
Formula Rossa, Ferrari world, Abu Dhabi
TBBTheDude says
So, how was it? Worth it? How much?
Brenton says
Abu Dhabi sometimes seems like those Chinese ghost malls. Ferrari world is in an incredibly beautiful building, has a lot going for it, but was very very low on attendance. A few of the rides are ok, but the formula rossa completely made it worthwhile. It reminded me of the scene in Episode one where Anakin is racing in the dessert. You have to wear protective glasses!

Good morning. The tabloid click bait style is taking over. I still was able to find 10 sites that avoid it. Click here for the list; number 7 will shock you!

>>>>>>>Which Credit Card Should I Use to Buy an Engagement Ring?
WTF dude, really?
Ryan says
Such a shame to see a decent one sell out.
ABC says
As promoted by Mr Pickles I do the following to my girlfriends.
1. Buy the ring at Costco with my favorite shiny CC.
2. Break up.
3. Return the ring and get Benjamins.
Rinse and repeat.
Mr K-1 Sam says
Great memories of the good ole days when deals were a plenti, and Mr. Pickles goosed most of them.
Remember when he found a sign at Safeway selling lobster tails for some distorted price, like $4 a pound instead of 3 oz tails for $4? As I recall, he went to customer sevice and asked for and got a raincheck for some huge amount, maybe 100 pounds. Then he wrote about it on the internet. I always wondered who got fired over that.
Balls of steel. And even if my memory has mixed up some facts, well with Pickles there was always another great story coming up just around the corner. With a sense of entitlement the size of Chicago.
Now it seems he and his parrot just put out that outdated newsletter. Old soldiers never die, they just……

Reader asking how to get business card without a business….
Before going on a long typing adventure….is there a link you would send someone that is current? Not referring to posts like “you can have a business, ebay reseller, child care, wink wink” type post.
Charlie says
Dog walking – even if its your own. Someone’s got to pay for the food and leashes, right? 🙂
Ryan says
So you can be just starting a business – as in haven’t been active yet but this card is part of starting up. Think of something they might do or would like to do in case the bank does call and ask. You put down $0 and <1 year for the annual revenue and time in business. Sole proprietorship, etc. That's been my approach in the past when I didn't have something reasonably legit to actually use. So far has been OK with Citi, Chase, and Amex (though it's been awhile with Chase and they seem to be tougher in some cases now).
Seems like some banks are more lenient than others in terms of whether they just approve you or if they feel the need to call and ask for all sorts of paperwork to "verify". Of course this can sometimes vary within each bank depending on your personal details, but some have better reputations in general.
Maybe look at the FT threads for a couple of biz cards they may be interested in? Get a feel for if they're likely to get a grilling and have to show documentation for the business or not?
TBBTheDude says
good advice, thanks.

MommyPoints was the best credit card shill to for up with the most bullshit business excuses to sell these Chase cards. Like “dog sitting” business.
Amazingly she suggested these type of businesses only for Chase cards. I wonder why…

I got out of charitable giving when Cash+ killed the unlimited 5x option. 3x flexperks isn’t as exciting.
bluecat says
@ABC, yeah, no reason to give to charity if you can’t get points! Don’t worry…there is still the canned food drive, where you can donate all the expired cans in the pantry! 🙂
TBBTheDude says
Can’t wait for next scheme by the #1 “fan” of my site to help…another charity. Wounded Warriors anyone?
dhammer53 says
The sad thing about wounded warriors (all small letters) is that they were shown to be below board, instead of above board. I wish people would take a minute to check things out before donating to any charity. And just for fun, check out the red cross. They should be ashamed of themselves. And while I’m ranting (sorry TBB), donate blood at a hospital, and not the red cross. The RC sells the blood to the hospitals, increasing costs. My local hospital says it sets them back $200 a pint.
These are two for my Charities I don’t like list. I hope it’s ok to ‘borrow’ your line George.
Dan
ABC says
You may not like RC and the marketplace, but please consider donating blood. High quality donors are in short supply.
Ryan says
I had heard about the RC but I didn’t know about wounded warriors. That sucks. Some of the more well known cancer charities are not all that above board or effective, either. It does pay to do research though it’s sad that “charities” can be crooked.
TBBTheDude says
Wounded warriors were taking money and living the high life…
Good advice here, thanks guys.
ABC says
Point taken, should probably say, I greatly reduced my charitable giving……
azamaraal says
There is a fallacy in this response. Canned goods have very close to unlimited shelf life if they are done properly. The best before dates are there as an indicator only.
Our food bank understands and explains this to clients who can be suspicious about the dates on the cans. Unless the can is bulging (indicating a problem inside) the food should be still safe to eat.
