Vila Rebar: Exploring the Secret Tunnels of a Croatian Dictator
There is a reason The Bohemian Blog belongs in the Blogs I Like list. Well researched, daring, great photography, intensely educational writing. So different than the pathetic crap my eye balls see every day as I try to bring you the blog buzz (Monday/Wednesday/Friday for now). If you had never heard of Ante Pavelić it is kind of sad. That sob was one hell of a butcher! You don’t earn the title “Butcher of the Balkans” for no reason. Good to learn history….What boggles my mind is that he is not as notoriously known as he well deserves to be, sad!
His regime was responsible for the mass murder of as many as 600,000 Serbs, an estimated 30,000 Jews and 29,000 Gypsies (these figures appear here – other estimates differ, but all are horrifying); against the latter two groups, Pavelić declared a policy of total annihilation. The Ustaše slaughtered many thousands of their own people too, targeting anti-fascists and other Croats who opposed the Pavelić regime.
In terms of sheer cruelty Ante Pavelić was unrivalled. Even in Nazi Germany there were concerns that the Ustaše were too brutal in their indiscriminate butchering of men, women and children. In a message to the German Army Command on 28th June 1941, General Edmund von Glaise-Horstenau reported: “during the last few weeks the Ustaše have gone raving mad.”
The Art of Avoiding Assholes
Hey you guys, the asshole expert is back! You know you are in for a hilarious read when the article starts with:
The world is full of assholes. Wherever you live, whatever you do, odds are you’re surrounded by assholes. The question is, what to do about it? [Read to learn what to do, be asshole free! I mean be surrounded by assholes free!]
“You have to know yourself, be honest about yourself, and rely on people around you to tell you when you’re being an asshole,” he told me. “And when they are kind enough to tell you, listen.” [So true! I know I can be an asshole sometimes so my wife knows to give me that “Hey, you are being an asshole right now” look! I know I can be an asshole to bloggers sometimes but…I can’t help myself. Are critics naturally born assholes? Discuss]
Apparently, everyone can be a temporary asshole. Just don’t be a certified asshole, okay! Oh, and Trump is definitely checking all the asshole boxes. Actually, I personally think he is redefining what a phucking asshole is but I digress. Hey, get your own blog to make your own political points. Wait to see below what happens, don’t be an asshole and judge me so soon woohoo!
“...there are examples of assholes in business being upended by their own assholery. I’m thinking of Uber’s former CEO Travis Kalanick.” [Loved this!]
One of my mottos is that you have to know your assholes. [LOL]
One of the simplest — but admittedly hardest — things you can do is simply learn not to give a shit. Not giving a shit takes the wind out of an asshole’s sails. When an asshole’s being nasty to you, ignore him. Think about when you’ll get home later that night and the fact that that asshole won’t be there and won’t matter. Think about how a year from now that asshole won’t be in your life, but he’ll still be the asshole he always was. [GOLD!]
At the end of the day, if you’re an asshole, you’re a failure as a human being because you promote unnecessary suffering. What else is there to say? [Umm, click my Chase Sapphire Preferred and Amex Platinum links? Lol]
Gun and Violence in America, in 17 Maps and Charts
The first time I went to Wal Mart when I made it to the United States, I first thought they were toy guns. I still can’t believe you can walk into a Wal art and buy guns, it never made any sense to me. Whatever. I now made the NRA folks mad and they will come after me and shut down my site and save me from my blogging addiction. I dare you NRA, just do it! I have given up we will ever pass strong gun control laws here. When little kids die and still nothing happens, WTF what do you expect? Just pray you are not involved in the next one, SAD!
If you care about the subject and can keep an open mind, it is a great article…Just one of the charts:
Ranking the Most Popular Memers on the Internet
Amazing research done here! Number 1 is Will Smith, ahead of Barack Obama. That was a huge surprise! There is a LOT more data here, nicely done guys at Priceonomics!
List: Things More Heavily Regulated Than Buying a Gun in the United States
Okay, the asshole anti gun violence guy is back. Bite me with your “guns don’t kill people, people kill people” bullshit. WTF is going on when some random dude buys 50 machine guns. Or something close to that. I guess I could understand a hunting rifle or something but a phucking machine gun? Maybe because I am a lover, not a fighter. Okay, the last sentence was a joke. For a very serious matter we are discussing. WTF will it take to stop the gun culture in this country? It could be me or you next time!
Recycling
and way too many phucking things to list here…Okay, I am not going to post this here verbatim because a known “fan” will let higher powers know and they will do bad stuff to me. Maybe it is time to do a Patreon page and get rid of the credit card pumping shit I despise promoting anyways and see if I can get to minimum wage this way? I wonder how many of you will respond. Hope more than the Paypal Donation. Okay….back on track.
And I leave you with this…I guess this one goes well with the assholes piece!

My wife is leaving me!
it’s not what you think. I showed her how to use her AA account and told her she can work it down from 460k miles by looking to visit her best friend who moved to Honolulu…thinking it will be good teaching playing around for hours. Of course I gave her ok to go for Business Class
Only to hear late last night that she booked herself a RT ticket in early February of all times! Detroit to Dallas to LAX to HNL. In coach. 40k miles. Mind blown.
In other news, the Vegas shooter…omg, wtf was this guy thinking…
Behave you guys, going into isolation, time to finish today 3rd quarter invoicing, it’s been amazing.
Thanks to the guy who bought some type of storage card and earned TBB $1.05. Together, we can fight back against the Titans, woohoo!
ABC says
“Not giving a shit takes the wind out of an asshole’s sails. When an asshole’s being nasty to you, ignore him.”
Doesn’t matter to a certified A-hole. You can only control what you say or do.
Ryan says
I don’t know if things will ever change regarding gun violence here. If Sandy Hook didn’t change the tide, nothing will. Amassing that many guns like the Vegas shooter is ridiculous. I know the whole premise about safeguarding from bad actors in government, yet even an arsenal like that wouldn’t do jack shit, from a strategic point of view, against a rogue government or foreign invasion when the government has tanks, drones, smart bombs, nukes, etc. Sure, criminals can still get guns even in countries with strict control over firearms, but the homicide statistics show that it helps.
No idea what the answer is, or if there is an answer. It’s a cultural thing that will probably take a few generations to change.
Incredible about the Butcher of the Balkans – and yeah, don’t hear too much about him but should.
Great assholes article!
MileageUpdate says
I think the first step is misinformation. George has classified them as machine guns. The guns he had werent “machine guns”. Other difficult steps include stopping someone without any felony or marks on their record from buying a rifle just “because”. How many is too many 1? 100? Im sure there are 1,000 different opinions on that one. The last is that there is a process in place if you want to change the 2nd Amendment but I dont believe there is enough out there to change the 2nd at this point.
Brenton says
Machine gun vs. modified near-automatic, what’s the difference? And I agree that it’s hard to decide how many is too many, but I’m sure we can all agree here that 33 in a year is too many. (that’s how many the las vegas shooter purchased)
And following what Ryan said above, what good is a rifle with a bump stock when a drone can pinpoint your location from voice recognition over a cell phone. So a gun really isn’t an adequate defense against anything other than a home invader or when the inevitable zombie apocalypse comes.
So leave the second amendment alone, but regulate it in such a way that it’s progressively more costly for each additional gun past a certain point, create a real, searchable national database, and if there was any possible way to prevent gun ownership from someone with a diagnosed psychiatric disorder (I know this will never happen) I think you’d see some positive changes.
ABC says
@MileageUpdate,
What do you suggest to reduce the incidences? Most agree there’s a problem and the number of incidences are too many. Many on the left side suggest some extent of gun control. On the right side, I have yet to hear any solutions.
MileageUpdate says
So tell me where you are stopping this type of attack? If this guy had 10 rifles instead of 33 would the outcome be different? This was a person with no criminal record. What gun control measure stops this attack other than an outright ban on rifles?
TBBTheDude says
I agree with myself.
Maybe we can start with restricting gun purchases to one. When you want another one, you must turn in the one you no longer want.
I just thought of that by the way. When there is a will, there is a way. First, you must recognize that we DO have a problem. When that dude is shot playing basketball and still does not want to do anything…forget about it.
If this was done by knife you know it I would be out aiming for knife controls…
In other news, what a quarter, wow!
MileageUpdate says
I dont see restricting gun ownership to 1 at a time as a realistic option.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
See you at the next mass shooting….
Some gun nut out there is planning to outdo this psycho…
When that happens again….I want to assure the TBB blog groupies that I will remain a lover, not a fighter.
WTF will it take to CHANGE the gun control status quo????
Phuck it, I got my tickets to see Blade Runner 20149 tomorrow with Mrs. TBB….I Can’t wait!
MileageUpdate says
gun control status quo? If you are talking about stopping non felons from being able to purchase rifles then I dont think anything will change. And I hope I never see you at a mass shooting
John says
Gun nuts are a frightening breed.
ABC says
I have yet to read a proposal. My question is not about avoiding a specific event, but rather reduce the total number per year. How do you go from one incident per day to one every other day?
MileageUpdate says
Most mass shootings are gang related in places such as philly balt chicago and DC and dont ever make the news. If you dont live in those war zone areas you feel kind of immune to it
ABC says
Sounds like there’s no issue to address here.
TBBTheDude says
I feel so much safer now that the NRA is going against the bump stocks…
smh
Kevin says
This isn’t about “gun nuts” it’s about psychopaths. You don’t need a gun or a bunch of guns to kill a bunch of people. Remove guns entirely from the equation and someone will figure out another way to do it. Vehicles, simple mixtures of household chemicals, knives, rocks, pointy sticks, poisons and the list goes on and on.
You simply cannot pro actively stop someone who is bent on killing.
TBBTheDude says
I’ll take my chances with knives, rocks and pointy sticks, thanks!
MileageUpdate says
Darn that pesky little 2ndAmendment stopping you from grabbing all those guns.
TBBTheDude says
Apparently the SPG Business Amex offer is up to 35k. Not available with my links yet…but should be soon.
U wanna see who were first out among the Titans with the news that can make them some $$$?

The other dude says
Taking advice on freedom and liberty (and finance) from a Greek is like reading The Onion for your morning news. Don’t like it, why’d you leave your communist motherland to come to the USA? Your ideas and thoughts worked so good there, you should’ve stayed to advise all those wise Greeks on money. Or, maybe instead of financial planning, you could’ve specialized in debt restructuring? It blows my mind that people hop on a ship, leaving their cesspool counties, and come to the US with the great wisdom from your former country.
TBBTheDude says
Thank you other dude for your “wisdom”.
For the record, I am a US citizen. I have been living in the US since I was 17. Let me do the math for you. I have lived here double the years I have lived in Greece.
The rest of your tirade makes you look a certified asshole. Taking the advice of my blog today, we are going to ignore your ass.
Debt is evil. I have none. I am not a typical Greek lol.
>>>>>>>>>>>>It blows my mind that people hop on a ship, leaving their cesspool counties, and come to the US with the great wisdom from your former country.
I bet that just has not happened before LOL.
MileageUpdate says
Would it matter if you were a citizen or not? I dont see that as a relevant fact. You want to change the 2nd Amendment. There is a legal procedure to do that. Cant just start changing Amendments because you dont like them. Follow the law and change it. I’ll abide by it when if it gets changed.
Sam says
This is what we’re up against.
Sam says
Could some answer a simple question:
Why should crazy people have guns?
MileageUpdate says
simple answer to a simple question. Crazy people should not have guns. A real and more difficult question? What is your criteria for “crazy person” an who shall be deciding that professional term?
