Have you heard of a devaluation that was positive? I didn’t think so. And here it comes Singapore Airlines with another one effective December 7. Hopefully the new online booking feature will work as advertised. Some of the more important changes are shown below (HT: Frequent Miler).
Hmm, is there a ghost writer these guys use or what?

A reader asked in the comments about my earning/burning mode lately. Obviously, I have slowed way down and I don’t do any MS for the most part. The balances have been on the decline, save it for selected card apps, mostly through son. I think the hobby’s best days are behind it, thank the “expert” bloggers who keep trying to fool their friends and family to click on their affiliate credit card links showing them how to travel for free lol.
And I leave you with this…There is a severe pilot shortage out there!

Buenos dias! Good links today. Heard before about that BMW thing. I don’t remember the details but somebody said that since you forego some do the available discounts, you end up paying dearly for that trip.

A guy I used to work with had done the BMW pickup and he really enjoyed it!

I’d looked at SQ’s program after seeing so many bloggers pumping it as the greatest thing since sliced bread and hey – you can transfer in from all 3 major CC programs (that I also happen to have affiliate links for)!! Sure, the suites class is only available with KrisFlyer miles and there are (were?) a couple of decent redemption spots. But in most cases, their awards (even the SQ-metal chart) seemed pricey compared to what some other programs offered.
This *A devaluation of theirs doesn’t make it any more appealing, even with online *A booking being available.

A friend did the BMW pick-up 20 years ago. He got to the factory a few days early and got to see them finish putting his car together.
He lived in California and figured out that if he put XX miles on the car and didn’t bring it into California for YY months, he could save some big bucks on the use tax they charge in lieu of sales tax.
Butterfield is a real high-end travel company. No Ibis nights with those guys. Or gals.

Serious question Gman. If you dont MS anymore how long before you just and walk away from the whole project? you can only tilt against windmills for so long. Especially without having skin in the game anymore. At some point your care factor must go to zero about the hobby? No?
Ryan says
Not MS’ing doesn’t mean you’re out of the game. Sure you can accelerate accrual that way but I don’t MS anymore (no patience) and still am keeping up good balances while burning plenty annually. I’d have plenty to go on for quite some time to come even if I stopped today. Churning isn’t what it used to be, but still plenty of new incoming miles/points to be had by being careful about what I apply for and when, and strategic about redemptions.

Pet peeve: when we’re locked out of our room and have to go all the way back to the front desk to have the key cards reprogrammed–all because we have some sort of hybrid “split” stay (business, then award…or 2 separate awards) that somehow can NEVER be reconciled into a single continuous stay.
Why not?!

I assume your question about Ben and Gary using a ghost writer is rhetorical. Of course they use one.
