In case you missed it, yesterday I had a wonderful post answering your questions about traveling to Iran, along with some awesome photos.
This blog was started primarily to act as an aggregator and blog reviewer of all things about miles and points. In addition, I always added other worthy stuff I found online about travel, personal finance, and oddz and endz. Always trying to adhere to the blog mission. After four years I am finding my fire is not burning as strong. Therefore, if I start missing some days around here, well, get over it.
Over four years I never had any issues to find enough worthy material to share with you, always adding my spin of course. For our entertainment ๐ย But lately, I must admit, I do not have enough material that is TBB worthy. It looks like the blogosphere hit a wall suddenly. I think this hobby is losing its fire, they are on to us. And bloggers’ primary interest is not your benefit, it is their own via clicks and eyeballs. I never cared about them and it shows lol. It is what it is…
Or maybe I am becoming too eclectic and tired of so much unimportant BS online…
Not sure about Tuesday…This is all I got, here we go:
Good primer on how to use British Airways Avios for American Airlines flights.
Dan of DansDeals in Game 7 of the World Series. I don’t care how people burn their miles/points, they earned them. Oh, do not underestimate the free PR, good business move. He explains why he did it.
Get 1,500 La Quinta points by allowing them to text you. I enrolled and still waiting for my first text to reply so I can get my points ymmv.
Marijuana tourism in Colorado. Very educational. It would be fun to have a TBB Do in Denver ๐
The 2015 Presidential Election: A Devil’s Glossary. This is awesome! So glad that this madness is over soon!
Top 10 Gmail tips for power users. It pleases me when some of what I find helps someone. Even one. You are very welcome.
It is really tough making it as an independent blogger these days. Never underestimate the freedom though…
An excellent personal finance piece about whether “Has US debt reached the tipping point?“. Before you go on a rant how all this money printing will lead to horrendous inflation…yeah right, give it up!
15 business meeting etiquette rules every professional should know.
I did some more point burning, now up to 790k to date. I burned 28,000 SPG points for five nights in a Four Points by Sheraton property in San Diego, a few blocks away from the conference hotel. I could have paid but I just could not pass it up. 5th night free always helps too. I always stayed in this hotel during this conference every other year.
Then I played around and finally decided to pay (oh my god!) for a Doubletree in downtown Philadelphia for a business trip as nothing really stood out. Cancelable rate was only $115 per night, perfect location and hey Hilton Diamond helps. Still trying to burn 500k Club Carlson points; the Blu property here I had my eyes on….is no longer in the Club Carslon lineup, boo!
The Boarding Area conference was in DC. Titan sessions with them showing how all the disciples can be just like them, no thanks. No. 1 rule: “It’s all about conversions. Never tell readers about better Amex Platinum offers and pump the sh*t up on that Ritz Carlton card to get back the direct Chase links!”
Another pic from Iran:
And I leave you with this…

I would have no trouble burning those Club Carlson points. I just burned a bunch this week, after burning my entire stash and my husband’s before that before the devaluation. I think you need to consider Northern Europe. They will go a long way there. Think Iceland, Poland, Sweden, etc.
TBBTheDude says
Yeah…I know they can be used there…but still…
Miss the buy one get one free days…bloggers killed that one too ๐

Okay, the Q&A was pretty good so I’m going to take a day off from hounding George about a trip report.
TBBTheDude says
Yes!
Mark R. says
George, how about tomorrow morning having some tips for buying Canadian residential real estate for those of us considering leaving, again (Vietnam the first time), depending on the results of the election?!
TBBTheDude says
Lol…will take wife and kids and go vote tomorrow and then go to lunch and then late at night, have them decide: Malaysia or Greece (which is a much better buy at these levels) #longterm

TPG and OCaaT: killing yet another “trick” this morning (AA eqd’s via Citi portal)…

It’s all about conversions

George — not sure if this is kissing and telling or what, but do you personally still manufacture as much as in the old days? Or are you spending down old balances with your 1M per year habit?
TBBTheDude says
Nope, I have slowed way down. Still have 3.3 million in the bank, trying to burn them! Laying low…Too busy to go gc&mo-ing these days.
Mike says
Yo.

I’ve been collecting LQ points for years. Never redeemed for a thing. Have accounts about to expire, so the 1500 that just went into each of them reset the clocks. Great timing. Still, no idea if or when I’ll ever use them. Maybe on a future road trip.
