Are we in a credit-card rewards bubble? Come again? Actually this is a pretty good article. To reiterate: “…itβs possible the credit-card companies will be able to keep up, and keep offering large sign-up bonuses: But only if enough consumers are paying them enough interest that it remains profitable. As credit-card users become savvy about taking advantage of rewards, the system only works out if balanced by consumers who are unable to pay their balances each month and continue to pay the banks interest.” Thank the newbie victims who get taken in by some flashy post at one of the Titan bloggers…
The Best Bar in Every State. Hmm, okay. This is for TBB reader John.
The Best Secluded Shores of the Caribbean. Wish I had a lowly paid staffer to bang a post how to get there for free with a bunch of credit cards #rolleyes

We Live and Die in Syria. What, your upgrade did not clear? Flight attendant was late or did not bring your pre departure drink you entitled ahole? Sorry, lost my cool there briefly…
Only in Japan. Japanese tourists flock to see Hachi, the cat with lucky eyebrows. Sometimes I wonder about the Japanese. Then again, we have a narcisisstic ahole here doing Hitler like salutes and bragging about the size of his hands and other body parts, what the hell is going on?

That chimp is a chump – no email again this morning.
The SECOND time in TWO days!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Yeah I know, it pisses me off. Don’t know what is wrong. I am talking with a WordPress consultant later today, may have to do with the plugin updates which I don’t have time to mess around, mostly because I am afraid something may break. I just sent the email out myself again. It’s not like I don’t have better things to do and worry about! Anyways, how does the email I send myself look to you? Same as the old automated emails from the BadChimp?
Sorry to all subscribers! I like to look at the positives: I learned how to send the emails out myself, yes!
GringoLoco says
Not a big deal in the grand universe of things, Buzz. The email looked/worked just like the Chump had sent it…

Bronze again! Hey, the Japanese have a station conductor who is a cat! At least he doesn’t brag about his paws!

We should send Trump to the Japanese then….they love Big Hands too lol

Happy Monday! Who cares about visiting all ball parks in the U.S.? We need to make it our mission to visit all 50 top bars, as TBB meet ups, once a month over next 50 months! π
Reagal (RGC) has been a dividend paying machine for many years for me, popcorn prices always go up!
CC bubble article was interesting read, I wonder if we will be in down cycle next year, who knows.
Thank you your posts!
Cheers,

I used to order XLarge popcorns so I can go back for the free refills! Not anymore, that stuff is so so bad! Still…the smell of popcorn in the movie theaters is so….tempting!
Yeah, very interesting to see how the credit card rewards will go in a year. I am sensing this is the last push by the banks to capture every newbie left out there who will get a credit card….they have already addressed the main problem of churners for the most part….Again, time will tell as it always does. Never underestimate the American consumer π
The post about Pyongyang is my favorite today by far!
Have a great week as well, thank you.
Chris says
I agree that for the credit card rewards bonus to be sustainable, they need to be subsidized by the ones who pay interest.
But don’t you need “good” credit in the first place to get these premium cards? If so, most people who qualify for these cards should have their finances together and wouldn’t likely be paying interest, would they? Unless I am missing something obvious, this won’t work (?)

I had this discussion at a credit card conference recently. Whilst generally true, there is apparently still a minority of travel card holders who do incur interest – and because they are paying it on larger than average balances, it is a decent stream.
Bad debt is also minimal, at least in the UK, on travel credit cards.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Very interesting, thanks.

AKA “the sweet spot”.
This has been covered extensively by academics including Elizabeth Warren (now Senator of MA)
http://www.pbs.org/now/shows/501/credit-traps.html
“Every credit card for a credit card company is like a lottery ticket. They’re just waiting to see who’s going to maybe stumble a little. Maybe get into trouble on a car loan. Maybe nothing at all except they just look vulnerable. They’re just in the right zip code. They’re just the right profile for people who won’t be able to run any place else. And those are the ones you slam. Those are the ones you hit with the 29 percent interest rate, the 35 percent interest rate, the new fees. And then, because of course if you can’t pay it, then you get hit with a fee for not paying or for paying late, for going over limit. And the game is afoot. With any luck at all from the credit card company’s perspective, these people will become little annuities that will just keep generating profits for the credit card companies for months, for years, maybe forever.”
TravelBloggerBuzz says
This is a great commentary about credit cards!

I stayed in the Cavalieri hotel, back when it was an absolute bargain with Hilton points. Not great location but true aspirational property. Other than that, don’t know much about Rome hotels

I noticed todays e-mail didn’t include a link to the website version of the post. For whatever reason, my iOS Gmail app formats your e-mail weird and I’ve found it helpful to have a link to the website in the e-mail so I can read it there.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
The last two days the regular, supposedly automated email by MailChimp did NOT go out! Not sure what the heck is wrong so I had to cut and paste it myself into an email and send it to subscribers. And, as you note, I forgot completely to add the link to it on the very top. I am learning this stuff, this is not a professional operation over here. Intern shows up whenever and is more clueless than me π

I love old people as much as the next guy but I dont take advice from any 80-90+ yr olds. Sorry just a personal preference. Just like I’d never vote for Hillary Clinton for anything, ever.

So…if it comes down to Hillary and Trump…you choose the vulgar narcissist mfer?
I am not a Hillary fan but this is a very easy choice.

NetSpender says
Hillary is never an option. She is a useless hack. And easily a narcissist. Maybe not as vulgar but thats not much of an issue for me. It is an easy decision true. No Clintons, No Bushes. Voting for either is a vote for the status quo of Washington insiders.
