We bring you First Class awards to New Zealand, beware Marriott Rewards ,visit Chernobyl & Cocos Islands in the middle of nowhere, notice some funky United award pricing, a giant douche bag in China gets his dog 7 iPhones, visit remote Yemen mountain villages, and more only for you!
TBB Blog Mission: To Entertain. Educate. Inspire. In That Order!
I am on my way to San Diego to attend FinCon16, it should be fun. I have posts scheduled through Friday for now. Maybe I will have a surprise..or two, not more definitely! Thanks to the two readers who got the CSR, you know who you are, losing streak is over, whining stops pronto lol.
I don’t post stuff I see here that I know won’t be alive by the time this posts gets up on the site at 6.30 am in the morning. Especially stuff that makes it on the Titan blogs you can pretty much kiss it goodbye and don’t be angry at the airlines/hotels, they are not non-profits! We get some juicy time critical stuff posted in the comments by TBBBestOffersPatrol but the guy is not that reliable, too busy he says and not getting paid much so…we get to it when we can 🙂
MileCards.com continues to amaze me. A clearly commercial site selling credit cards BUT with one important distinction: It has excellent content. Like every day. #Respect Proof that you don’t have to be a mega pumper to succeed! I am assuming they do well, otherwise how they can keep it up for so long. Anyway, here we go: Good Business, First Class award space to New Zealand, Australia in 2017
I swear, the amount of corporate speak BS coming out of Marriott executives is astounding! Merging Marriott and Starwood Corporate Cultures, According to Marriott’s HR Chief. Can you find anything in there about the actual customers, it is all us, us, we take care of our people, us blah blah blah. And this gem which led me to uncontrollable WTFing! “…we are probably the most progressive company in hospitality in terms of being on digital channels and using things like animations and cartoons to really get the message out there.”
This sounds exactly what Delta started doing some time ago..and now: Funky United award pricing: What we have to look forward to This is not good…
If you have a whole bunch of Marriott Rewards points to burn, you should look at these before they are taken away soon: Marriott Rewards Travel Packages (7 Night Hotel Reward + Up To 132,000 Airline Miles)
I like to post here douche moves by travel credit card salesmen bloggers. But this one takes the cake, WOW! The son of a Chinese billionaire just bought his dog $9,584 worth of iPhones. I mean, how do you top this?
Some deeper big picture reading now: Fighting Terrorism With a Credit Card. Yeah, really…
Personal Finance post of the day: Jonathan Clements offers a prescription for a ‘happy, successful financial life‘. There are some wonderful nuggets of wisdom here.
Breaking: A new Yomadic post! What’s the Worst That Could Happen, Staying Overnight in Chernobyl? Wonderful stuff as always. Less than a month before I join him in Iran!
Yemen’s Remote Mountain Villages. This is just a wonderful post. Screw travel hacking…this is just awesome stuff and makes my day to know some readers get the same pleasure reading along the links I share #bliss
The most remote islands in the world. An old favorite is still number 1: Pitcairn with population down to 49!
And I leave you with this…
Please help bloggers you appreciate & make a positive difference in your life by spreading the word about their blogs, emailing and commenting and using their few $ links, thank you!

Phuck! I say a few good words about MileCards and they follow up with a ‘get both CSR and RC cards’ sales piece, boooooo!
This is from a Delta plane in DTW about to take off to SAN. Been a while, they still pack them in hard, no empty seat, no bumps, boooo too!

It is inevitable. You’re naive to think otherwise. It is what affiliate income does to people. Makes the greedy and ruins this hobby.
TBBTheDude says
It was not inevitable to agree to do an interview at MMS, THE website that should be a case study about what affiliate income does…
So puleeeeease, you talking about greedy blogs while feeding them content, is a little bit too much, hey?
Scott says
I did that for first2board. They need the readership. There is also a subtle protest in there. Probably too subtle.

I too am shocked, shocked that
there is gambling in this casinoa website that exists to push cards is pushing cards. In other news, I just learned one can skip the line at Tortas Frontera in ORD by downloading and ordering off the app.
TBBTheDude says
They still post some great stuff, unlike the Titans!
Nick says
This has got to be one of the most informative comments in TBB history! Thanks harvson3. Brilliant. Nothing worse than having to skip Frontera because of the queue when passing through ORD. Well maybe flying United.
TBBTheDude says
So, is this Frontera a cult like In-and-out?
Panera used to have sandwich named Frontega. In other devastating news, Panera killed my FAV soup, Black Bean…I do not blame bloggers in this case (but do for Evay bucks)…
harvson3 says
Perhaps it’s a cult, but mainly it’s just the best food option (with two locations) at an airport that’s a hub for 2 of the 3 major US airlines.
Bartholomew says
Ok, will have to try it out next time I am there.
Here in the conference, there is a group going out to In-and-out at…11.30 pm, gulp! I never figured out why the cultish fascination with this joint!

Our pleasure on the CSR apps, you deserved a free coffee at Panera.

Thanks a lot! When TBB gets the multi million buyout offer I will go on a tour to thank everyone who believed and supported me instead of becoming a hired bitch to assault readers with BS posts pumping plastic in every way imaginable while pretending to help family and friends travel for free…
Hey we all have fantasies lol.
In other news, I am on board Delta charging my phone AND finally using one of the ‘free’ wifi gogo passes from AmexPlatinum.

@Mike..and any other horny TBB readers……if you missed my response late last night. See below
Also Mike if we don’t have any luck hooking you up, if your current squeeze is a size 6, I’ll send you one of my wife’s saved TWA uniforms taking up space in our closets.
@Mike, If you want to bang, err I mean date F/A’s……YOU CAN DO IT!! Best bet is to get a job as a one. Because once they (the young ladies) get out of training, graduate and move to their new Domicile, all hell breaks loose. They come from all over the country often leaving home for the very first time, and it is time to live life in the fast lane…So new hires are ALWAYS up for a good time!…As the only straight male working the flight and if you are not hideous the opportunities are there for the taking. They will be knocking on your layover door late I night. You would also be surprised how many passengers both male and female that will come on to you. If you ever want to get on with an airline, I can help for sure.
If not interested in the above, I would say don’t be afraid to ask someone out if they engage you in an extended conversation, most of them (unmarried) are not in great relationships because they travel so much. Find out if they are laying over in the same city as you are. Or maybe you can hang out at the hotel bar that crews layover at (most airlines stay at the same hotels). Where do you live and travel to? ………….. Many large cities with airline F/A bases have towns nearby where newbie F/A’s live (they are on reserve, subject to call out, the first couple of years on the job). Long Beach, NY was famous for the amount of younger NY Based F/A’s from all airlines living there. Certain bars were crew hangout, you could find out which ones pretty easily.
F/A Ramsey says
@Mike … I left a response for you late yesterday on some hookup ideas. My ex F/A wife reminds me that when we all started and were based in ORD, everyone lived in apartment complexes near the airport. My entire apartment complex was inhabited by a couple hundred new hires from all the different airlines with ORD F/A bases (Domiciles). Hang out at the pool of one of the complexes. Search for apartments that cater to and give Interline (airline) discounts.
GringoLoco says
@Mike — if you’re ever down my way, I know where the crews overnight in SJO and MGA. SJO is better — have IB/Condor (forgot their code) and BA crews (in order of “hottiness”).

Buzz, As you know already, I am slow. I would of said partially retarded but I am trying to get politically correct(er). Buzz can you tell me WHY ON EARTH are these bloggers at a FinCon 16? Selling credit cards to your peers? Please keep me up to date about their response when you ask them on how much commission they make off CSR.
Be sure to send my regards to Gleff. Not!
