We shake our heads with Marriott CEO’s usual BS, travel to Transnistria, fly over Hong Kong w/ drones & so much more you will click on our links recklessly!

One of the slowest weekends ever. Or maybe it was because life has caught up with me attending higher priorities. Or whatever. One thing is clear to me: The miles/points blogosphere, understandably and naturally, is slowing way down. I guess all these hits are taking their toll. There is just not that much interesting stuff to blog about anymore, everyone repeating everyone else.
You may say “Hey TBB, that is all you do!” Well, doh…My blog curates the most eclectic staff in the blogosphere, this was the intent from Day One! While I do this, I may add what I think it is entertaining/educating/inspiring to say. If not, I just provide the link and shut up. Whenever I have something to say I do it in a separate blog post. I wish so many blogs did the same instead of cut and paste or torturing us repeating what the original source said trying to sound different (often without success). Yawn to pieces!
The hardest working intern was on it right away about the latest BS from Marriott’s CEO. To me, Marriott is the Delta of hotel loyalty programs (oh oh, waiting to be abused by Marriott fan boys for this). I also don’t believe much of what was said about the offer from Anbang.
It appears that Virgin America is sold to Alaska Airlines for more than $2 billion. I am going to spare you all kinds of analyses on this, please see a real aviation industry expert if you are interested and avoid a “miles/points” blogger!
10 Best Airports in the world. Interesting list. No surprise at all that Singapore’s Changi was again #1.
Stunning Drone Photos of Hong Kong’s High-Rise Dense Landscape. Wow, these are amazing!
This is something cool. Portraits of officials from a country that does not officially exist: Transnistria.
Your personal finance fix of the day is this wonderful post by Morgan Housel: “Things I’m Pretty Sure About“. Must read. You are welcome. Need to go on curating…
Well, not much to curate folks. We are talking not much eclectic stuff in the blogosphere left. From the whole weekend, Wow, is that sad or what?
So, lets have some fun. You know I don’t mail it in for the check as some…
First, this is awesome. Check out the name on this credit card. WOOHOO!
If you are not following The Darwin Awards on Twitter, you are missing out on hilarious stuff. Like this. And this with the TBBintern…
If you are not tired of the crap, you can start reading from #41 the never ending love to this blog by his #1 hater, the founder of Frugal Travel Guy. One of the original and ever present blogs in the world famous TBB Blogs To Ignore list!
Would you ever associate The Points Guy with Financial Literacy? Never in a million years! The audacity…wow! Kind of like…”your credit is the most important asset” and then you get totally demolished by the endless credit card sales pitches!!!
OMG, Loyalty Traveler‘s hotel accounts have been hacked. Be careful out there!
I am really proud of my Blog Review Lists. I think I am being fair as a blog critic and it is a great blog feature for newbies to get educated. I am sorry to report I have taken out Travel Is Free out of the Blogs I Like list. This blog was the best miles/points blog for a long stretch.
And I leave you with this…
Posts will get shorter. Not that much worthy enough to curate. I am sorry. It is what it is. What will be your next hobby when you are sick of the devaluations and shutdowns and revenue based redeeming becomes the law of the land?
Please help bloggers you appreciate & make a positive difference in your life by spreading the word about their blogs, emailing and commenting and using their few $ links, thank you!

I actually had a friend in high school who came over as a foreign exchange student from Transnistria. From the stories she told, it seemed to be a pretty interesting place culturally compared to the US.

Wow, that is wild.
I was one as well here. With Youth for Understanding. It was a great experience, life forming. I am still…here!

Interesting first page story in today’s WSJ about the inside story of Anbang’s bid for Starwood. Told you guys this is just a weird company and its CEO is a mixture of North Korea’s leader and a private Denis Rodman #wacko
I get the bronze? #notfair

It’s still all out there, just moved underground into the darknet, true travel hacker/cracker style ๐
All will be revealed to you if you spend 500$ on a FTU session ๐

I’m not an airline analyst and haven’t looked at the financials so I don’t have a view yet of whether the AS and VA deal makes sense. However, I love how the blogosphere has already concluded AS way overpaid without ever bringing up transaction multiples, comps or expected synergies. Seems like everyone thinks $2.5 BN is a big number so AS must have overpaid.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
It certainly appears very big. Time will tell. Time always does.

Hello fellow TBB fanatics,
So I’m doing my first trip to Europe this summer as a reward for finishing up my Master’s (YAY!) and I still got this Club Carlson free night e-cert to use. Anybody got suggestions of a really nice place to redeem?
I was thinking of the Radisson Blu in Vienna. Haven’t fully planned where to go other than Belgium, Netherlands, Hungary, and Austria.
Thanks!

I always liked travel, at one point I discovered miles and points, I continued to like travel, then I discovered the ease of making miles and points out of thin air, I continued to like travel maybe even more, then we had a golden age of making miles and points, I still liked to travel and was able to share it with my family and friends, they loved it, then we are slowly were coming to the end of the golden age, I still like to travel, not sure where we are now, but man I do like to travel and probably will continue to travel for the rest of my life. All of these miles and points were just some really nice juice and gravy, and family and friends loved some of these trips, we have a lot of great scrapbooks, memories, experiences, thankfully it all happened during my prime years and I got to really see the world. I really do not mind flying to Hawai’i in coach for free for the next big family trip, in order to “conserve” and stretch out my miles balances, my friends and family will probably not get as many free flights from my accounts over next couple of years, but we will still travel, and I will still like to travel.
Good times,
PedroNY
