I am joining Yomadic’s Iran untour in October 2016 and you can come along! We can talk crap about them Titan pumping bloggers, you know, fun stuff lol.
The Current State of BRGs. I was never patient doing these. But if you are into them here is what you need to know per Travel Is Free:
IHG free nights are amazing.
Orbitz is super amazing.
Hilton is extremely consistent in approvals.
Expedia and Club Carlson are total avoids designed to discourage you from actually getting the better rate.
Best Western and Choice are super annoying but have a big enough reward that I sometimes check.
I didnโt mention the 20% to 25% off ones, like Marriott and Hyatt. Hyatt is extremely odd, and there is a FT thread on their oddities. But Marriott is very consistent as well. Marriott actually functions well, which is the big pro for Marriott in general I guess.
Here are the reduced American Airlines AAdvantage awards if you hold one of the listed AA credit cards.
The Top Five Hotel Stay Bonuses for December
CEO of the Year is AA’s Doug Parker. Sadly for us, I must say it is well deserved, the dude is hitting on all cylinders. Sadly no cylinder is friendly to us. Brace for impact you entitled miles obsessed addicts, he is just getting started with us!
Swimming Holes, another gem AFAR list.
Fog Rolls Over a Cliff like a Waterfall. Mind blowing scene. In Iceland. You will be blown away, amazing!
I swear Volvo trucks make the best commercials. I wish I was this kid busting things left and right with a remote control, awesome!
The Emperor of All Strategies. Another personal finance gem. At the end of the day, I am spending time here to be able to enhance readers’ lives. And when that happens it makes feel GOOD. And then I look at the monetary rewards for doing this and I laugh at myself. That just came out and I typed it. People near me at Starbucks are looking at me funny, like I am insane or something. Or am I? #woohoo Anyways, back to the article. The author wrote a fantastic piece on what investors can learn from the war on cancer!
The World’s Best Underground Attractions. I have a feeling I may have shared this one before but what the hell, here it is again. Hey, you get what you pay for! Actually, you do not but lets not go off again like in the previous paragraph talking about my…feelings lol.
And I leave you with this. Reflect this for a moment. LOVE it!
Got my hands on the Reservecard, wanna guess how long it will be before the minimum spend is taken care of?
My trip to Malaysia via stops in Tokyo and Hong Kong is all taken care of with miles and points of course, come on! Except for one night in Hong Kong. I have less than 22 hours total so I am not going to use my free night at the Intercontinental again. Son may be there doing a semester abroad study program which is…kind of weird! Will take care of that night after his plans materialize later on and do it when I take care of his trip (if he goes through with it).
And at some point I need to get serious in starting to plan how to get positioning flights to get me in and out of Iran. The burning never stops!

You can doeeeeet!

For the silver!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
You like the hardware.
Got to Panera and my table was taken. Heat is not working and the most spectacularly bad music is still torturing all of us (just me and the two guys who are sitting on my table). So, I hope Sunday gets better after this ๐
Will try to watch the MLS Final today. I went to see Beckham play at Columbus Crew stadium, which is a very nice experience.
Not much is happening in the miles points world. It’s FU weekend time so I like the quiet!
I need to get that BestOffersPatrol intern out of his coma, what a lazy guy, sheesh!
Kim says
Happy, happy Sunday and second!
Kim says
Or third, I mean.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
The hardware is what counts ๐ Trying to find something to say gets more difficult lol

Lucky’s boyfriend, ouch.
Never been to Iran, I am jealous too!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I still wonder why anyone reads the two BA poster boys! Wait, that includes me. I must start really ignoring them. I must I must I must.
bluecat says
It’s gonna be PORTLAND, baby! Go TIMBERS!
Also, go Stanford, go Leicester City, and my dream for Euro cup: Go Hungary!
(I ranked my “GOs” from “most possible” to “most fantastic!”
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Not sure about Hungary, that’s reeeeeally a long shot!
bluecat says
If Hungary makes it past first round, it is a victory!
And, btw, TIMBERS!!!
bluecat says
Seems like an obvious “yes” but here goes: can I do hidden city ticketing with the AA reduced award? (e.g., I want to fly to PHX so I book a flight through PHX to ABQ and just get off plane in PHX).
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Yes
obviously
just don’t make it a habit and don’t check a bag ๐

BTW, is “Necker Island” the new Maldives? Whose got the best spoof on what Frequent Miler is doing to up the ante on “aspirational travel”?
I LOVE your “anti-Maldives” trip idea to Iran. Bravo.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Hey, Necker Island will have lots of blog content. And it fits perfectly with the REAL revenue machine in this space, the credit cards! As long as he has earned the miles, he can whatever he wants with them, they are his.
Iran vs Maldives? To me, that’s not even a contest. Will my life be more enhanced seeing Iran with Yomadic tour or luxuriating myself in a bungalow in the middle of the ocean? Again, not a contest with me.
Oh wait, I could have lots of content too with my Iran trip too ๐
ABC says
For that special beach experience, you can go to Kish, Iran.
Again, the biggest problem is that you can go Vendoming in Iran. It’s not on the Hyatt map. MV is a clear winner.
ABC says
No entry visa is required for Kish!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Good to know.
Mike says
Yoho, nice blend of topics and comments today, not sure who Lucky,Ben, and Ford are though. Frequent flyer celebs I presume?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Lucky/Ben is the owner of One Mile at a Time blog in Boarding Area. Ford is his boyfriend, who recently started writing for the blog as well. Two entitled youngsters selling the lifestyle and pushing an ungodly amount of bank credit cards. I suggest you stay away ๐
ABC says
Ford Prefect is OMAAT’s best friend. You’re better off reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
bluecat says
What are the calculated odds that “Prefect” is his actual last name?
