We get excited about improvements in the United Award search calendar, learn the airline upgrade policies, visit Petra, talk about killing deals & laugh at NFL stuff and more!

I am going to keep this short, weekend and all. Knee deep in tax work, trying to beat the scammers filing first on your behalf. I am advising you to file as soon as possible, do NOT procrastinate. Tax identity theft is out of control!
DansDeals was the first one out who blogged about a great improvement in United. The Nonstop Award Calendar is Back and Other Award Calendar Errors Have Been Fixed. What really pisses me off is bloggers linking to…Titans who copied DD, ugh!
Travel Codex continues to keep up the quality content while many other blogs give up, self destruct or continue to sell you in every opportunity. Help responsible bloggers before we…give up! Summarizing Difference Between Airline Upgrade Policies
MileCards has an educational post if you are into Southwest. How to earn Southwest status: A-List and Companion Pass Qualification
I expect soon a post by a blogger titled something like “I was detained/arrested by police and spent a night in jail with gang members and crack whores”. Why? Because we are getting there…”Austintown Police investigate $9,000 gift card purchase” (via a tweet by Personal Finance Digest HT Reddit)
Visiting Petra. Warning: It’s an AFAR guide. That monastery just looks like an epic place to visit…
Leave the airlines alone. Interesting post. Did you know the four major airlines had a combined $21 billion in profits in 2015? Wow! We are just in a completely new environment. If you mentioned this 10 years ago people would think you escaped a mental institution! This is why Delta does not give a crap about you hacker free loader types 🙂
You are owed nothing. Your personal finance fix of the day.
Aurora Borealis Over the Pacific Northwest. Wow!!!
Ready for a trip? Animated photos from Burning Man are just way too surreal!
Have you been stopping by at the comments to learn what is breaking from the amazing TBBBreakingNews intern? No? Whaz up with that? How about news from your favorite bank
We also had a mostly respectful discussion about, you know, bloggers killing deals for affiliate credit card dinero, cardinals and stuff like that. So here is one of my long responses. Get some popcorn and enjoy!
Ok, enough serious talk, let’s laugh with NFL 2016: A bad lip reading of the NFL.
And I leave you with this….When we get an Amazon sale and then it is…returned…oops!
Please help bloggers you appreciate & make a positive difference in your life by spreading the word about their blogs, emailing and commenting and using their few $ links, thank you!

UAs new website saved the day for me yesterday: my mothers neighbor called at 6:30 am to say she had been found unconscious and was admitted to intensive care. I fired up all possible mileage sources to see if I can find a quick oneway award to get from Munich to Calcutta as fast as possible, UA had LH F space as saver award available. 60k+153$ and four hours later I was on a plane to Mumbai. Can’t beat that by any margin. That 60k is pretty much the miles I got from the Chase CC last year or the CSP a few months ago.
Sadly miles can’t make a sick parent well again…. but at least I’m here!

Wow…perfect example of points saving the day! I hope all will be well with your mother! Certainly you being there on the spot will help in some way. Best wishes!

You are a good son, speedy recovery for MOM!

Oh man…hope she is okay. This definitely shows the value of the miles. Diversification too and not going nut on burning, a little hoarding is okay.
I dread that same phone call…it is coming…one day.

Buzz, I am too busy to comment today as I will be filling out contest entries to the new Victoria Secret contest, but first I have to enroll in PINK NATION. It is all that there is left in this hobby, #pathetic.

I actually read that post and…thought about it 🙂
Oh, that crazy Eddie mfer! I mean, I think it has been happening and it is only going to get worse now when no easy way to meet min spend and Chase (best cc sales payer…by far!) clamps down.
To pumpers…do you have plan B?

We visted Petra 3 years ago. Many do this as a day trip from Amman or Eilat. That’s a mistake. Spend 2 days and a night. It’s cheaper because the government has better prices since they want you to stay in Jordan.
Long story short, Petra is a spectacular place.
