I am posting this from Orlando late on Saturday night and will be mostly miles & points related posts catching up from the last few days while I was too busy learning and eating/boozing it up.
I apologize I have not kept up with the TBB comments section ever since I got to Orlando! #conferencing
The most important post of the past week was Bengazi Bengali Miles Guru’s detention by the police and IRS at a Wal Mart. Only this guy could keep his cool in such a situation. If this became a norm we can finally thin the herd lol.
Matt over at Saverocity makes some interesting observations about the situation above. Do YOU have the stomach for something like this? If not, stay home and start a blog woohoo.
Top 5 Hotel Stay Point bonuses for February 2016.
Here are all the Category 2 Hilton Hotels in Asia. I may try the Doubletree in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia this June.
American Airlines has lots of business class awards to New Zealand. I first saw it at MileCards hit the blogs. So, if you are going to write a post about it, it is nice to HT but put the effing link ON THE TOP because we all know not many read it to the end to see it! Leading.NOT
Keep Calm and Churn on. Good points. This blog is a new addition to First2Board which recently changed ownership.
I know nothing about reselling. No, let me rephrase that: I know enough about reselling that it gives me a headache and I just don’t have the bandwidth for it. Maybe when I wipe out my miles/points balances perhaps. But this post about how companies do not like when you resell their stuff is another nail in…staying away from it…for now. For me.
Is this for real? Bloggers now pimp point sales for commissions? You do NOT buy miles & points just like you don’t redeem for toasters. You should not need to part with cash for them as you should have earned enough hehe. When I see this I am thinking…oh crap, mega devaluation is coming as some manager is looking to get a bonus to hit some volume target. This explains how I saw so many of these recently. Of course the disclosure was…somewhere where a responsible reader will surely see it #disgusted

The real beauty of Budapest. One of the places I need to visit. After Bucharest…I always confused these two cities! The photos here are just TOO gorgeous!
This is what the inside of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner looks like. Wow!
And I leave you with this….as a warning for the haters lol.
Thanks to the readers who got the CSP card with my links. LOVE when that happens!

Don’t miss watching this gripping movie – Ramsey, the English professor, Kumar and TBB intern as the students:

Frankly, I am a bit concerned that MOs has taken lot of blog space these days. I think enough warning has been given by some bloggers who really care about their readers. Now better others keep quiet before we all get trapped by those jealousy non-hobbyists looking at shutting down all our means.

MS by definition has all the components employed by a money launderer. Law enforcement generally assumes you are a drug dealer liquidating all the VGC you got payment from your customers. Especially in TX where most of the cocaine comes into the US.
Tahsir is a very smart kid and should use his talent(s) to start a real business. I know a few good smart people from my father’s tribe that earn a very decent living using their brains. The rest of us Bengalis do 9 to 5 jobs and dream about the 4 Fs: Food, Fish, phuck and Football (the real soccer, not that weird murrican stuff) ๐ There is a reason the British used us to administer most of their colonies.
Helmholtz says
Real business doesn’t have that same frisson of excitement, does it? Besides, you’re just getting reamed by guys who know how to ream. Better to ream among the sheep than among the wolves.

Heck, I’ve heard of actual MBAs who do nothing but put up sh-t travel & points websites with all their education and smarts.
And on the Bengalis, coincidentally, I’m currently writing a lecture that begins with the Battle of Plassey and argues that events on the subcontinent helped produce the Industrial Revolution.
ABC says
Along that argument, there are tremendous amount of similar situations that did NOT help produce the industrial revolution. Western countries have been very capable of plundering other territories . Spain and Portugal are a prime example. All that gold and silver from south america didn’t do much to fuel an industrial revolution. But it got Britain and NL fascinated with the art of colonization. London was already the world’s leading banking city mid-1700s. At the end of the day, it predominantly came down to easy access to coal and cheap coal, geopolitical position and state policy.
Don’t waste your student’s time with a lecture. Young kids prefer podcasts.

Also the Spanish and Portuguese didn’t face much resistance in their colonies. Their warfare technology and viral diseases were 5 generations ahead and the native had no chance. The Indians had seen it all before ๐
harvson3 says
The changes in economic and political institutions in Britain (plus the peat v. coal argument) have been covered in other lectures.
A good, readable introduction to this Spain and Portugal v. Britain is Acemoglu and Robinson’s Why Countries Fail, which I’ve already used.

Oh, the English were super smart. Taking raws out of the country and selling the locals the converted goods for a premium. Brilliant! Of course China trying to do the same in Africa today is baad, how dare they. ๐

Tahsir seems to be doing alright…check out his post about Turo, he’s busy becoming a rental car kingpin! http://www.travelcodex.com/2016/01/make-money-renting-cars-with-turo/
Oliver2002 says
I’ve read that one when George pointed it out a while ago. Why pretend to be ‘sharing’ cars? Just get a franchise of a car rental company and earn double that??
Tahsir says
“Sharing” allows me to not break the lease ๐
I asked someone for a million dollars and they offered me 10. You’ll see more cars in the coming weeks.
Tahsir says
To say that I invest all my time in MS is a gross understatement. I only show what I want to show on social media. Everything else would be boring.

I just stayed at the Doubletree in K.L. It is a great value. The free breakfast for gold and diamond members is very good. And I got a free suite upgrade as a diamond.
