TBB’S Chinese New Year party at home. Yes I had no other pics to post! |
ON MY MIND
Talk about slim pickings over the weekend…
There is nothing major going on the miles/points world. It appears the bloggers are also taking a pass. I have never seen it so dry, so boring! If it wasn’t for the AA/US merger I wonder if it would be completely dead. Come on banks, give us some major promos! We are tired of reading about the ever changing US Air credit card offer! Barclays, you are driving all the bloggers nuts with changing the offers so frequently!
I am waiting on three new cards to hit my mailbox to get going again…I will attemp to convince the nice folks at USBank that if a human being reviews my Club Carlson application they would find out that I pose no risk whatsoever to that fine institution!
One of these days I will add an “About Me” tab…
You will not believe how many spam comments bloggers have to delete every day! And from what I hear WordPress is so much worse than Blogger…which just does not excite me so much about moving the blog to WordPress.
MILES/POINTS
To all bloggers: This is what a trip report of a hotel should look like. GREAT pics, very informative and an aspirational property on top of it! Waldorf Astoria Park City by Milesabound. I could do a trip report of my Four Points Downtown San Diego property…but I won’t. You really don’t want me to. I checked out on Feb 2nd and my credit card is still showing a phantom pending transaction, so ludicrous! Maybe this entry belonged in the Travel section but then this section would sit empty so I made an executive decision to stick it here.
TRAVEL
A few weeks in Peru video. At Gadling. Wow!
Zodia Boat Ride in Antarctica video. At Landlopers.
ODDZ & ENDZ
The Glorious North Korea Air Force is standing by to reduce the enemy to ashes. Always good for some laughs!

How sad is it that the person FMG brings on to provide analysis on points, gives UR a “value” that is mathematically impossible, by way of 7th grade algebra?
It was probably the same valuation that led Rick to “value” his Amsterdam trip at $5300
Not surprisingly, FMG or that other guy didn’t respond to the comments pointing that out, and not surprisingly, they won’t inform their readers that UR points CAN’T be worth 2.94 cents

He just doesn’t give a damn about his readers…. no 2 ways about it
To his credit though, at least he kinda-sorta admitted it in that legendary FT thread

Wow thanks for the gushing feedback!!! Glad someone appreciated the fruits of my Sunday night labor 🙂 And yes a great aspirational property that is within reach of “normal” folks here in the US 🙂

What camera do you use? I think you have the best pics of all bloggers in trip reports. Very hard to decide if it is the camera or the aspirational type properties? Or both:-)

Actually most of the pictures were taken with an iPhone!!! I have the 4S. I also carry a Canon S95. I do have a higher end Nikon D90 but none of the pictures on the blog are taken with this. The majority of the pics in the Maldives report were taken with the Canon, but I think all of the WAPC ones are iPhone. And love the new panaroma function – works real well! No doubt having nice properties to work with helps!

Iphone, really? Wow! It just goes to confirm that I totally suck in taking pics!

Wow, it was bad enough that MV was pimping the inferior US offer but now he’s pimping the 30K US Air credit card, even though there are 2 far better offers
Come get some NYT readers!
I just visited his site for the last time.

Plenty of new readers from the NYTimes to offset your loss;-)

I’ve been using WordPress with the Akismet plugin and have had maybe four spam comments go through to my approval in two years (I deleted them before they posted).
I have had much worse issues with spam user registrations but Stop Spammer Registrations plugin has cut that down to about one a month that actually goes through.

Good to know, thanks!
