I like United’s new CEO. There is something about him. The dude is definitely not Jeff Smisek! And he hits again with this pretty big news about upgrading the business class experience.

BLOG BUZZ
I whine about how small blogs trying to blog responsibly deserve more help and I get haters bitching. I bitch about how so many bloggers are just credit card sales fronts with specific examples to educate so many unsuspecting newbies and I also get yelled at for being angry and/or repetitive. You can’t win. Bottom line: This blogging takes a lot more time than you imagine and I could be doing other things with my time. The only click in almost two weeks in my credit card links was mine and it was a test one to see if I got the latest exclusive card offer (nope). Thanks to all who have helped, you know who you are.
Meanwhile, Miles to Memories suddenly starts using own “direct” affiliate links and we have Angelina Travels taking it to the streets. And I get readers bitching at me. Oh, gotta love this blogging circus!
I think we are seeing a mad dash to capture whatever credit card clicks are left in the hobby at this phase of it. Amazingly, new bloggers keep coming in to show friends and family how to travel for free! Not many are quitting. Certainly no big blogger yet! Instead they get bought by Bankrate! I wish my blog gets an offer that does not involve a partial Panera gift card!
Changes are coming after my trip to Asia. I feel like pakalu papito! They will be fully disclosed and not just appear suddenly here! Or I may join Drew in retirement hehe.
See all the mayhem in Twitter.
There goes my best Amazon link user above. I am an idiot! I still love you.
And I leave you with this…Ok, this is not funny. I have written before about the clusterphuck that is Greece. And this picture pretty much sums it up so nicely. The dude smoking is the Vice Minister of Health. And he is smoking in the ministry building. And there is a law prohibiting smoking in public buildings. In other words, why should you obey the law idiot citizen if I don’t. And that is why Greece remains in a spiral to hell!
Please help bloggers you appreciate & make a positive difference in your life by spreading the word about their blogs, emailing and commenting and using their few $ links, thank you!

I AM ALSO DISAPPOINTED WITH MY COLLEAGUES IN RISK AND CREDIT POLICY. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO MARKET ALL THESE GREAT CHASE CREDIT CARDS WITH SO MANY RESTRICTIONS IN PLACE?
TBBTheDude says
I know how you feel.
I WILL sell my first one this month…any day now!!!
PedroNY says
What restrictions!? Churn, churn away! Just keep on adjusting, discover new banks, new programs, travel for cheap. Enjoy!
I did some data tabulating, between Mrs. PedroNY and I, since 1/1/2013, so 41 months, we are 145 approvals out if 164 applications. 88% batting average, we’ll take it. 2016 is 15/16 so far.
Pigeon story is a must read. Thank you.
Cheers,
PedroNY

Do you actually deny being a shill though by constantly asking for more clicks and complaining about wanting more money? Reread your previous posts. You complain about it everyday!
TBBTheDude says
Lol.
Love the reaction.
What would you do if one day I change direction and start selling credit cards? Not with the crappy creditcardsdotbomb crappy links that is an adventure to find the worthy ones.
I understand how even good bloggers turn direction in a dime. Latest example: Miles to Memories.
Here you WILL get the memo.
When I get around to it.
I do not complain when there are clicks. #hint

Stop spreading lies. Look at every Staples rebate post going back awhile and you will see the same language regarding the best card to use and how to maximize. I have covered these deals in the exact same way for almost three years.
Nothing has changed in the way I write or what I do. You are just looking for drama here. I won’t engage in a Twitter or comment war with you (I know you like those), but you are simply making things up. It is one thing for you to complain, but when you simply create “facts” it crosses a line.
Again, not going to engage any further, but I didn’t want to let you slander me without at least letting people know that when it comes to this you are not being honest.
BTW I loved the cliff diving photos.
TBBTheDude says
Lies???
WTF!
What are u talking about Staples posts????? Never crossed my mind!
Look. The past two days I see direct cc links provided by Card Benefit. I was surprised. Was there a change in the policy? No problem if it was and readership was informed, it’s cool. If there was and missed it, please let me know.
I like your blog. I know you need to provide a living to your family. Tell us so. Don’t suddenly start blasting your readers with direct cc links just like everyone else. And the one sentence disclosure AT THE BOTTOM is so weak. I feel let down. Because I care.
This whole space lives on credit card money. Sad fact imho.
If I do this I will make a separate post.
I am not a liar and I have enough drama in my life. TBB reviews blogs and uses this blogs to express what I see in the blogosphere!
You are welcome for all the praise for your blog.
What a crazy space this is!

I did exactly like you said and found that TBB was right. On posts prior to June 2nd, you did not have an affiliate link to the Chase Ink. You added a redirection link (or whatever it’s called)—the one that ends in “/goink” and redirects to cardbenefit.com.
This is what TBB was referring to (I think). No one cares if you changed your writing or not—THAT was not the point of his arrow. You now point people to an affiliate link–either that true or it’s not. Come clean.
NotOneOfTheInfamousAngriesButHateBullshitters says
Crap. I write too slow and TBB said what needed to be said.

Who’s the liar now? Seems like any good blogger somehow turns into a delusional person after getting affiliate links.
As much as I hate the MommyPoints blog, the blog was really great prior to affiliate $$$$.
It is unfair for a reader to expect bloggers not to be compensated for the insane amount of time spent on their blogs. But sh!t man, they just turn into the banks’ b!tches. There ought to be a freaking middle ground so that bloggers don’t turn into phucking sellouts.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I would have been totally fine if he had announced a change in the affiliate link policy. Because I like his blog and he is a really good guy too.
The economics behind this charade of blog space is so dwarfed by the banks and their cc links is NOT EVEN close. And once you taste it…you change because…let me show you why amigo:
3 days in June this blog has earned 92 cents in Amazon clicks.
There has been no credit card clicks for almost 2 weeks.
Remember, the guys in Boarding Area make money from page views but unless you are VFTW and OMAAT this does not amount to much. Definitely not to provide for a family. So…for the people whose this is their full time job…they succumb to the banks. And then, everything changes…slowly. Why would you make a post that you can not throw in a direct cc link in it when…you can and get paid. And you see the effect all over the blogosphere. Both of the big blogs above were great until they started getting paid so well by the banks. And you can believe what happens next.
You can beat up Frequent Miler all you guys care about his content and stuff. But the dude still has the BEST affiliate link policy out there. And you got to respect that.
Having said all that, one important piece of differentiation in this whole space from my admittedly limited knowledge.
Truly DIRECT links by Chase are pretty much down to a few big bloggers: TPG, MMS, FTG and VFTW. The rest have lost them. Many have lost the other banks as well. This Card Benefit outfit provides direct links which do not pay nearly as much. The creditcardsdotcom links also pay crap AND they are not direct…readers HAVE TO search and click many times to find them (and many are inferior offers, yuck!). What may be happening is that they are trying to get some money before the game implodes with the continued restrictions 5/24, once per lifetime, etc. And clearly the dough is finding newbies and selling them their first cards and develop them as long term customers.
It is just an amazing space to watch, been fascinated with it since the late 90s. And also watching how people change. Actually, how money changes them.
I should look into this Card Benefit provider. But it appears to me they are going for the blogs that are below the big shooters and not going to care for a blog as mine who does not even check his own Alexa rankings lol.
Besides, who has the time to be messing with the direct link urls and stuff like that.
I was happy with the 3 to 5 credit card conversions per month. Hey, my family is my own best customer. When I used to give my clicks away to others at least now I get paid on my own cc clicks and I get more money from the banks #winning. A few months readers responded in even bigger numbers and it was great. This is why short term SALES promotions are great, they DO generate the sales and bloggers love them. As these big promos have mostly stopped, things have hit the wall around here. Besides, my readership is the more advanced type and they have had many of these credit cards. And obviously, they are not going for any more Amex cards and now most of the Chase cards are no good either #sosad.
I still have no idea where the “liar” came from. Must have had a stressful day, babies can kick your ass, I’ve been there. Oh well, I am the bad guy again looking for drama for…Alexa rankings or page views? Smh.
I think the milecards people are doing this right. But then again, they have money to sustain and advertise like maniacs as the site is not a big part of their operations. It is very very tough NOT to become a bank bitch man once you start. Because, well, what I said above.
Watch my post tomorrow. I can spend hours in a small part of a trip report and make almost nothing or do yet another post on the Citi Prestige benefits or the amazing CSP card with fraud protection or Amex Platinum (for 40k links, what did you expect a higher offer link it does not pay??) with the road assistance amazing benefit. LOL.
TBB calling it as he sees it.
