This is my own personal list of several blogs I personally do not care about for several reasons that I will not single out here. The reasons include one and usually more of the following: content (quality/originality/analysis), level of aggressive selling/credit card pushing, bias in posting, disclosure policies, comment moderating/censoring, level of expertise (knowledge), etc.
Only well known blogs were included. Many smaller blogs could have made the list but I am going to respect your valuable time and not bother you listing them here.
At the end, you are responsible for your actions. You choose how to spend your time online. If you do not like a blog nobody obligates you to read it, move on. Only TBB reads them all because, well, I have no life apparently and this blog came into being to, well, review blogs!
Please be kind and considerate in the comment section below. Absolutely nothing personal as always. TBB Blog Buzz has evolved in case you missed it, this list has replaced it đ
This list will be on a permanent page under “Blog Reviews” here.

Who got added for December?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
None. This is a new list here!
For my other two lists I only added Milenomics in the “Blogs I Like” list.
Noah says
That is pretty much all of the ones I read. I thought they were good. Which ones should I be reading then ?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
See the two links at the bottom of the post or find them on the menu tab titled “Blog Reviews”.
Yes, these are commercially appealing. Most read them. I ignore them. Then again, I was never accused for being commercially friendly and was always into alternative music lol.
Arty says
NĂșmero uno?
Arty says
No-got distracted by Missouri game
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Yeah, what a cheap excuse. Hope they don’t lose like Alabama and Michigan did today #heartbreaking
TWA44 says
No surprises here! So are you going to Orlando instead of Maui?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Going to Orlando for a conference in end of January. 11,879 Southwest points plus $5, 14,000 SPG points for a Four Points by Sheraton and a Thrifty compact car (or better) for $11.22 per day (& will look to improve on it with Autoslash). Not bad hey?
My Maui trip is in April. The return is in disarray due to the cancellation of original Alaska Air flight. They booked me on alternative that totally messes up my plans. No resolution yet. I am taking the weekend off to avoid more heartache about this.
gbert says
Good list, matches my own pretty accurately.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Thanks for the feedback.
Sam says
Why not use hyperlinks to the blogs you don’t care for? Or better yet, have a link but have it go somewhere other than the blog. For example, for FTG, you could set it up so that hitting the link for FTG takes you to a cc offer better than the ones FTG lists, if any. MMS could link to some 34 part trip report by someone going shopping.
I guess all that would take a lot of work.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Haha, I guess I could do that and get some laughs about it. But Feedly list is growing again so I better attack that next đ
Anonymous says
Great ignore list. I agree with all of them that I’ve heard of. There are a couple there that I’ve never read before.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Thanks for the feedback.
HikerT says
According to the gratuitous spam in my award wallet notification today I should “Discover numerous possibilities to rack up frequent flyer miles by reading Rick Ingersoll’s blog. Rick is considered the worldâs expert on flying free.” Truly a legend in his own mind.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
AW is getting on my nerves lately. Every time I go there I feel like ducking before being hit by one of these humongous ads that I must find the tiny link to click to proceed to get to the next screen to update my miles/points balances. Very very annoying.
Grant says
Agreed, they shouldn’t show ads for Award Wallet Plus members or at least have an option to turn off ads. You have a bold list above, no big surprises there. Any chance you can order them, 1-10? Just to see your opinion? Also, install the WP plugin Poll Daddy and you can have your readers vote on things đ
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I am not going to order them, even more subjective than it already is. I am fine with this list.
I hardly have time to learn the plugins I have installed now…how am I going to learn another one? Thanks for the suggestions.
MilesAbound says
Personally I think you should either cough up a decent fee (say $100 a year life EF) or STFU about AW advertising. People have to make a living, you guys are obviously quite happy to use the service.
Anonymous says
Miles Momma. It may not be a big blog (though surely it’s as big as EPoP) but is bad enough to qualify.
Ramsey says
Agreed!
harvson3 says
As someone who doesn’t like to see the English language brutalized, drawn, quartered, fed into a wood chipper, and then rearranged, I support this nomination.
Hearing one thousand graphic designers howling out in pain and lament, I support this nomination a second time.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Yes.
But I decided not to even mention it because, well, not worth it!
Chris says
Pretty good list of blogs to ignore
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I thought so myself:-)
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Steve says
“According to the gratuitous spam in my award wallet notification today I should âDiscover numerous possibilities to rack up frequent flyer miles by reading Rick Ingersollâs blog. Rick is considered the worldâs expert on flying free”
The blog being referred to here wouldn’t happen to be FrugalTravelGuy.com, would it? Because Rick has repeatedly come onto this very site reminding us whenever FTG.com gets criticized that it’s not his blog. Guess this is another one of those times where the answer changes depending on convenience to him. Like how FTU is sullied by all those corporate bigwigs that you don’t see at the CS, but then he’ll take a free cruise featuring said bigwigs
Anonymous says
“Rick is considered the worldâs expert on flying freeâ
Considered by whom? WTF?
Ramsey says
Considered “Renowned Expert” by his own press release. I believe.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I think I am an expert too and willing to learn every day đ
Lemongrab says
Good list, pretty much what I would put together. I don’t think I have ever read or heard of Noob Traveler. A couple on that list used to be not so bad at one time. I think FTG went downhill quickly after the sale to IB, though it hadn’t been what it once was for awhile before that. TPG jumped the shark pretty early on. DP has never held any interest for me, I don’t understand it being in BoardingAreas featured top section.
AgendaGuy says
Being niche has it ups. Quite possibly the worst blogger active in the business at the moment, although MMS might have just tipped it over with the charades since the last year. To those who give money to these outfits, the shame is on you.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Thanks guys for taking the time to comment!
Greg says
Am hoping the United deval quiets some of the noise, esp when stopover rules go into effect. View from the Wing and One Mile at a Time are the only that deliver credible info for serious flyers on a regular basis.
BTW, where is Amol from MileValue now? A falling out?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Those two have been around for a while, experience does and should count for true expertise đ
You mean Bengali MIles Guru, not Amol I think. Last I checked, BMG left Milevalue and joined the Hack My Trip team.
Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.
Anonymous says
Blogs I Avoid? Not true. They were the basis of your blog for the first year. You made your niche by reading the blogs on this list every single day. If it was not for those blogs, your comments would be more in line with the numbers you get now which by the way are way down from your ranting days.
And criteria for inclusion? based on the fact they are all commercially successful, and you failed miserably at monetizing, (remember the AdSense fiasco?) and monetization was one of your other talking points, one has to wonder if envy and jealousy at their commercial success and large reader base, are not also part of your criteria
TravelBloggerBuzz says
First, thanks for reading TBB for so long and taking the time to comment.
The list is “Blogs I Ignore”, not Avoid. For over a year I got tired for critiquing them, they used to show up here almost daily. I think they now have graduated into a permanent list. I would LOVE to see them graduate into one of the other two lists by the way!
Regarding comments: Yes, comments are down, thank God! I had a hard time keeping up with them. TBB still gets more comments per day than all these blogs combined some days! Comments (to me at least) show reader engagement and true community.
The criteria for inclusion were listed in the first paragraph. I do NOT want to single out each blog for such criteria. Since you have been reading for so long I am certain you know what I am talking about.
I am happy these blogs are commercially successful.
TBB has failed miserably at monetizing and that is a fact! Not that I lose much sleep over it and neither I have devoted much time to it at all. I bet you each blog listed spends more time on monetization PER DAY than I have devoted in almost 13 months of blogging COMBINED.
Having said that, commercial success and large reader base was NOT part of my criteria. I don’t eat at McDonald’s either!
Again, thanks for taking the time to challenge TBB. Always welcome and appreciated, it shows me you care!
DeltaPoints â (@DeltaPoints) says
LOL – TBB could not ignore Delta Points if it tried! TBB reads Delta Points each day and Delta Points has filled most of the post on this site even with TBBs shameful and disgraceful practice of non-linking plus Delta Points DOES NOT CENSOR according to TBB rules of what is censorship! In fact I fully expect TBB to censor this comment. Sad, so sad!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Thank you for being such a loyal reader and taking the time to comment in my blog, it shows me you care.
“shameful and disgraceful practice of non-linking”
” Delta Points DOES NOT CENSOR according to TBB rules of what is censorship!”

Wow. What a troll.
Funny considering 99% of your “content” is lifted from flyertalk
AgendaGuy says
He probably doesn’t have any kids. Or at least we know what they will turn out to be in future when they grow up ….
See where this “hobby” is going too đ
Chris says
I sure do hope that he won’t have any.
MilesAbound says
An interesting list… I only think you have four “big” blogs though (FTG, MMS, TPG and Noob), the rest are just your pet hates. I wouldn’t describe any of the others as particularly big though MileValue is pushing up. I gotta say I still like TPG despite his amazing capacity for pumping cards. I used to like MMS when it was a blog, now he just works for Chase which is fine I guess but certainly on my “ignore” list. Speaking of which did you read his TOS? Totally f’ing hilarious. Yeah these TOS were put together by a hobbyist just writing to “help out family and friends” lol:

Oh snap. MilesAbound’s mega post will inspire DP to cut and paste the entire bible now. Which will cause TBB to trim it Which will *prove* to DP that TBB censors.

Of the blogs you list, the only one I might disagree with you on is The Points Guy. I think his blog has value — even though it also has significant weaknesses. I kind of see it as an alternative to View From the Wing. Kind of like the role the “second newspaper” in town used to play before the digital age; you knew it wasn’t as good, but it did offer a slightly different take on a story, and that can sometines be useful. More than anything, I often a little disappointed in TPG. After all, this is a guy who quit his job to do this stuff. I just think he could be a little bit better at what he does. I’m not actually bothered by his credit card pushes; heck these blogs are businesses and need to make money. I’m more disappointed by some of his general travel content, some of which is contracted out. It’s not always “professional” advice. Basically, I don’t like reading things on ff blogs where I think I know a lot more about the subject than the author.
So what’s you basic beef with TPG?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
From the reasons I listed:
Level of aggressive selling/credit card pushing
This is like a 10 on a 1-10 scale!
Disclosure policies
Parked at a place no one reads them. If there was a survey done of the readers I bet you most would not have a clue that all the cc’s pushed on the site provide a financial incentive.
Originality of content
Also, could do a much better job being the first one (or one of the first ones) out of the gate but instead is consistently one of the last posting “news”. I mean, this make no sense with the staff employed! Case in point: The Wideroe.no “mistake” fare: published it so late that it likely wasted TPG readers’ time!
Other than that is fine. Keeps pumping up the posts every day and content is decent. I don’t care much about the travel content either.
Great business indeed. Not for my taste so I ignore it. Wish Brian the best, he is one of the nicest people I ever met!

What don’t you like about Noob Traveler?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Extreme bias in posting towards pushing cc aff links
Originality of content and weak analysis
level of expertise (just too busy with other techie things to truly devote the necessary time to develop any expertise).
I really like the guy as a person. I hope he still considers me his friend. To me it is never personal, it is all about the blogs.
At the end of the day, this blog is not commercially successful so…who cares đ
