China is taking social engineering to dizzying heights. Now imposing ban on travel on people with poor social credit scores.
The Glory That Was Yahoo. I have a client who was there at the glory days and we got out at the best possible time! Of course I tried to take credit for timing it #notreally #justdumbluck.

You need to put up with a lot of crap in reselling. You have been warned!
There are some changes in the Avianca LifeMiles award chart. I don’t trust this program too much so maybe they are preparing something else very soon. Something that is not going to be good?
I think I am done spending more time on blogs I should be ignoring…

I missed Stormy last night, sad!
phill says
It was more like a slight drizzle than a category 5 storm(y)… now that Greek basketball player story after was super interesting. Why didn’t you bring us this heartwarming Greek tale before?
An interesting thing happened as I was checking out of Hyatt, a new (I think) employee accidentally handed me the invoice for Hyatt along with my room charges. Since I used points I was asking why they were charging $50 a night plus tax. She asked her coworker who apologized and said that was just for Hyatt I used points, and there was no charge. I wanted to keep it but the other employee said no… anyways for my 8000 points a night it looked like they were getting $50 plus taxes maybe and maybe a small fee. The total was $189 for three nights, the rooms were selling at $135-145 a night so I see why so many Hyatts mess with award availability.

Giannis is special. And his whole family is. Good people and so humble. All Greeks know his story. Now that you mention it I feel bad for not mentioning much about him in my blog. My kids know his story and have used it to teach them to stay humble at all times as well. He recently lost his dad at a very young age and suddenly. We were all afraid he may take it hard. But, the dude is, like I said, special! He missed the last European national team tournament because he got injured. But we still did well. With him back Greek basketball may be back!
It’s a remarkable story indeed. Dirt poor. Brings tears to our eyes what the family went through to persevere!
Good info on the Hyatt Awards.
To anyone who thinks to use an IHG Rewards visa night at a Kimpton: Don’t. It is amazing how they make the pictures look so phucking aweome on the website! Two Kimpton stays, both disappointed. Or maybe my expectations were too high? Got stuck facing a wall in a dorm that reminds me of my dorm room! I could have spent in an Intercontinental instead.

Our local PBS station is playing a Mr Rogers retrospective: “It’s you I like”.

FYI, itâs âCaminito del Reyâ, not âRayâ. Rey means âKingâ in Spanish. Is the âThot Leederâ guest blogging today?!
TBBtheDude says
Typo!
Relax dude. Doing this without staff or interns. From a way over rated hotel lobby when I could be partying with some inteesting looking people…
Bringing the whiners out lately….but Not Ingy, where is he?
Anonymous says
Itâs not polite, smart, nor reasonable to piss off a longtime supporter who politely, without any attitude, tries to correct a typo that makes you look stupid. âRelax, dudeâ?!
TBBtheDude says
Maybe you forgot a smiley?
Comparing me to the Thought Leader by an Anonymous reader, excuse me, but I took it as an insult!
To all:
If u are joking, add a smiley pls
And add a handle!!!

I should add that I am blocked on Twitter by René, even though I do not recall ever having had any contact with him or his lousy blog.
Does Twitter allow blocking en mass-Can I just, say, block everyone who follows Kenye West or Donald Trump?
TBBtheDude says
No Sam, he blocks people one at a time. And he does it proudly đ
Andy Shuman says
Everyone’s blocked by RenĂ© đ
Nick @ Personal Finance Digest BlockchainCryptoCoin says
If you’re not blocked by RenĂ©, you need to sit down and think about the choices you’ve made in life.

News from the Delta front without getting around the block!
The American Express Delta Reserve card now lets you max out at 45K medallion qualifying miles at 15k for $30k spend. I wonder what the change in Diamond qualifying expenditures did to the demand for this card. Since Delta runs hub and spoke, not to mention routes from London to Eugene, getting into the Sky Clubs is a big deal.
Is this one time? Testing the market I suppose.
TheBuzz says
Apparently, you got the HT at OMAAT but you were renamed “Gaurav”. Now watch how OMAAT gets HT in other blogs…
Titans read my blog!
In the meantime I have not heard from the cc guy and it appears all hope is lost…
I just want Ingy back at this point!
DML says
Oddly enough the Delta program is really misunderstood. The gnashing of teeth about the “hidden” reward chart is simply silly IF you have sufficient status. With sufficient status the reward tickets are refundable so you can always buy at the minimum price. How? If the price falls, swap at zero cost (neglecting the time fussing). If you are buying refundable tickets with money, the price doubles (more or less). The Reserve card is a big help getting status.
Andy Shuman says
I don’t think it’s misunderstood. It’s designed to reward the most profitable customers and ditch everyone else. Of course, status helps, but it doesn’t lower the saver award levels, which are atrocious to begin with (talking J here). And the dinamic (raise, don’t think) pricing sucks.
TBBtheDude says
DML is free to do a guest post here about it but I have a feeling Titans will copy it and HT some dude who does not exist!
Andy Shuman says
I don’t have anything against Madrid, but if I spent more than one day in the capital, I wouldn’t forgive myself for diverting my attention from Barcelona, or Bilbao, or San Sebastian, or Girona, or other smaller Spanish towns and even some villages that are way more interesting in my book than Madrid.
TheBuzz says
Agreed. Son is staying in Madrid but been traveling all over every weekend. He is now on a week long break through Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Dublin. If he could only do trip reports I would be all set around here lol.
ABC says
Agreed. Madrid is at the bottom of places I’ve visited in Spain. If you go there, there’s no reason to visit Madrid for more than 3 days. Your time is better spent in the cities/towns you mentioned. Or Andalusia. Or even Mallorca in the off-season (yep, there’s a Hyatt there now!). Just avoid Costa blanca.

So, Mommy Points screams you must get the 35k spg business amex card today. And she has been blogging how many years now? Who is she trying to sell to? Oh, some noob…
And now Ben/Lucky is so out of ideas how to sell to noobs he started a new series One Family Member to Sell Cards to One at a Time…
And TBB loses his links…
