ON MY MIND
I had two Southwest flights today. They were fine. I really don’t miss flying up front with Delta. The satisfaction I get not giving them any of my hard earned money any longer makes up for it.
I am in Las Vegas for the rest of the week. Luxor for three nights @ $43 Priceline. Saved me $20 with that trick and sweet talked the agent to get me a very nice room (could be a suite, never stayed here before). Full size rental car @ $12.42 per day with Payless Via Autoslash.
Posts (when they happen) will be shorter! And replying to comments will be delayed. I hope you don’t ask for compensation, hehe.
I never figured out why people like to feed money into slot machines, pull the lever and sit back to watch losing it #lasvegas
Something I realized it has not been stated enough: I absolutely have NO issues with bloggers personally! I do have some issues with the content in some blogs, it’s all business:-) If I see you blogger in a conference I will extend my hand to you and say “good to see you”. I mean it, without you this blog would not be here, I owe you my existence lol. If you do not shake my hand, well, I am not going to worry about it, life is too short to deal with trivial stuff like this:-)
MILES/POINTS
I don’t read much of Frugal Travel Guy anymore. I did read the post titled “Maximizing Our Rewards Points Internationally in Asia” because I may learn something. And then there it was “The obvious pick here for me was the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card“. Followed that up by another churning challenge…Oh boy…
Or how The Points Guy pushed the AARP card and in the same post carpet bombed all the other usual suspects of affiliate links. Or how Delta Points conveniently carpet bombed ALL 50k affiliate links in one post. Or read another blog post credit card push by Unroad Warrior. Or…do you see dear readers, my former ranting style is a hopeless battle as I could keep going and going and going, like the energizer bunny!! It is an impossible task these days, there is no way to keep up with them all!
Big fuss about the Lufthansa 50k offer! It appears Million Mile Secrets got it right. View from the Wing had it wrong and timely apologized. I liked how these two bloggers handled this. Many others (not all) just had the links ready & out as fast as they could to cash in…A huge part of the reason is that Barclasy Bank is just a darn flaky bank to deal with! I was going to do a special post but I am too busy in Las Vegas, sorry! Oh, View from the Wing can put together some darn good posts too, here it is one about how Delta is nowhere near done on its way of leading the industry to go all revenue based #beveryafraid
I would love to know how many bloggers who recommended the Lufthansa card actually applied for it themselves. Hmm…
If you were living under a rock, you may have missed a free one day AA lounge pass. Catch: You must have a 55 or higher score on Klout.
TRAVEL
Nada.
One day I will add my trip reports. You will likely have to wait a very long time, hope you are still around. Heck, I hope I am still around!
ODDZ & ENDZ
Charles Ramsey for Senate! “Little Pretty White Girl“. This is very funny…yes I know, it is playing on stereotypes and all that…please get over that and just take it all in. I love the guy!

I live on a lake with a SW view and I never get sunsets like that :=)
TravelBlogger Buzz says
Yeah, me too. And I don’t live on a lake:-(

I admit I was wrong about the Lufthansa card.
Here’s another vote in favor of Dan of DansDeals for the Friday MMS interview.

I vote for TMP and bikini shots but that’s just me.

Two minutes of research:
DansDeals is run by 28-year-old Daniel Eleff of the Cleveland area. He has five brothers, and is on MP and FT as ctownflyer. His story is probably more interesting than those of the last ten Friday interviews combined. He married Miriam in 2008.
C’mon, Daraius, interview him!
If you can’t already find thousands of pictures of bikini shots on the Internet already, well, I can’t really help you.

I am in favor. He can foot the “renowned expert” requirement for a change:-)

Klout score close to zero. Do I really exist? I am online, therefore I am. Descartes 2013

Klout has gotten me a Walkman (new type, have not used it yet!) and now an AA pass. Oh, I got a Red Bull magazine subscription and a few samples here and there. Not sure about its business model.

Be still my beating heart. Calm… calm… remember this only happens 3-4 TIMES A YEAR !!!
TravelBlogger Buzz says
Hilarious, I used your comment, thanks!

What the post above me said…..I looked at boarding area and thought something broke as there were 7, count them, 7 bloggers hawking the same thing…..
TravelBlogger Buzz says
Think it has to be more than 7!
Anonymous says
This offer does not come 4 times a year. Anyone who says otherwise provide a link to a non-targeted 75k offer with $5k spend? Every so often they do one with 10k spend. And this won’t last.
It’s certainly the biggest news of the week so far in the miles and points world. I’ve even seen a few blogs with affiliate links cover it.
Hate on the links, hate the commercialism, whatever. But this is a very good deal and it would almost be malpractice for any miles and points blogger not to mention it (affiliate links or no).

Ok, I take it back. TPG has taken it a step beyond, truly to the realm of self-parody. He’s done a second post on the 75k Amex offer “if you like that, I have 10 more cards for you to consider applying for at the same time!”
Gee, let’s see, if you’re going to apply for this link right now anyway it might be time to do all your apps at the same time, with these convenient links…
Cough. OMG.
Anonymous says
5k or 10k in manufactured spending, barely a difference nowadays.
TravelBlogger Buzz says
I pretty much agree with everything stated here, for the record.

this was what my blogger reader looked like at 6pm yesterday. only got worse. Its the overkill that bothers me in this matter (and I’m not sure if there’s much one can do about it) rather than the offer. The offer is a good one, if I didn’t already have the card, I’d get it. but still this is hysterical:

It’s a good deal, you say so yourself. So which blogger shouldn’t have mentioned it? [Probably reasonable to criticize those who wrote more than one post on it though!]
TravelBlogger Buzz says
You are in too!
Yes it should probably be mentioned, sure. Sensationalizing it and making it sound repeatedly “amazing” is sad. Seeing so many posts about this all day long was just so darn awful! See tomorrow’s post about this issue.

Hilarious. His interview w/ Cooper was awesome…Bro!

The best part is that someone shared the link on Slickdeals and since the only way to get to the 75k offer was through an affiliate link, I’m pretty sure that SD just made some blogger PRETTY DARNED rich! LOL.
Anonymous says
Once SD hears about it you can count down the minutes til it expires. My bet is we’ll see the Lufthansa posts start up again tomorrow bright and early LOL. I miss the old days (meaning BEFORE affiliate links)…. Not to say I didn’t get in on this one or anything but still….
the J says
Oh they already heard about it and milked it for 23 pages worth!
Here’s some choice tidbits. (paraphrased by me)
# “What is a charge card?”
# “how long do we usually have to wait to reapply to be eligible” asked by atleast one person per page.
# “What does 75k in point equate to in different rewards?” Please do the research for me, since I’m too lazy.
# “You’re doing it wrong…Try THIS browser” Yes, because I know exactly what I’m doing.
# “How many gift cards can you get with 75k points” By far the most popular question.
# “I don’t have a business. Can I apply for this card? HOW?”
# “What is MR points?”
# “Best value is to sell the points…I know a guy…” Don’t we all? 😉
# “What is financial review? I’ve never heard of it” Don’t worry…you soon will.
# “Don’t worry about financial review…you only get that if you miss a payment” Lord help me!!!
And my personal favorite.
# “What is VR”……someone then posts a link to MMS.
“Can someone simplify this further? I don’t get it.” LOL.

OK Someones gotta say it, and I guess it’s my turn to be the bad guy. Mommy Points often has good original content. Given. But pictures of that kid (granted she is cute)every 2 seconds, enough already we know your a mom, along with about 3 billion other moms. I don’t make people look at my kids pics everyday. Honestly who wants to look at other peoples kids over and over. Sorry, to be the meany but enough already.
