MILES/POINTS
Mile Nerd has all the info you need on National Car Rental’s promotion: ONETWOFREE. This is my link, I get 300 pts if you enroll for the promo and you rent a car. Read the promo terms, be personally responsible 🙂 Thank you. Felt a little whorish just now 🙂
Amazon Local Register – 1.75% Payment Processing Fee – By Doctor of Credit. I liked this post because of its cautionary language. Since TBB has so much $$$ riding on its relationship with Amazon (joking, come on!) that we do not want to jeopardize…we have decided to stir clear of this one! Beware.
Loyalty Lobby has a post about several targeted Hyatt promotion offers. You do what you think is best, I am not your priest or your therapist (I miss her, she is on vacation!).
There is a 75,000 Virgin Atltantic credit card offer out now from Bank of American with a $90 annual fee not waived. Limited appeal and fuel surcharges suck. But highest bonus I have seen lately. I saw this in several places but can not recall exactly where I saw it first. So, if you think I am disrespecting you for not giving you an HT you should see how many times this happens to me so please…relax! I may go for a 100,000 offer on this one, it’s not like I am hurting for miles. Plus I am too busy reading blogs to burn lol. Another note on this one that I REALLY like is seeing Bank of America perhaps showing a pulse and possibly a sign for more bonuses from them in the future?
If you recently enrolled in Avis First, please READ the welcome email VERY carefully! No pics & arrows here, not my style.

A very warm hello to all the people I met in person last night at the Meetup in Ann Arbor downtown. Always a pleasure and a good time to be among somewhat crazy people like me.I feel normal around you. 🙂
Online Travel Review is saying goodbye to blogging for all the right reasons. I wish it was one of the blogs in the Ignore list to lessen the pumping and bad odor fumes that are polluting our world! Jared so long, all the best! You had a sense of humor that was almost as good as mine 🙂 Oh crap, I hope my wife does not read this…
Finally….MaltaPoints rebranded to euflyer.com. Good move, no one cared about Malta!
For the record: I don’t give a damn about the First Class meals on United. Actually, I never look at this stuff. If I fly First Class I will choose from the menu and hopefully enjoy it. For the record also: I am allergic to shrimp #sadface.
And now for some fun of the mega commercial blog headlines and the way they carry orders from the banks to sell more credit cards:
Delta SkyMiles Platinum – Is it Worth the $195 Annual Fee? – Million Mile Secrets   [Having to reach deeeeeep to find things to sell this one! Get the card for Priority Boarding or Pay With Miles option, really? Go sell this crap somewhere else. I bet 95% of people who apply do not know that the compensation to MMS is more than the annual fee (I am guessing well here); the other 5% are family…not sure about the mother in law. Maybe she started reading TBB and does not like him anymore 🙂
How to Book Air France and KLM With Delta SkyMiles – Frugal Travel Guy [My name is Miguel and I am pimping my award consulting service by writing some stuff for these newbies. ]
Are you more / less happy with the Delta 737-900 vs 757? You better be! – Delta Points   [Say what?? And…OMG!!! Stop the presses! Mark this date down: August 21st, 2014. A whole post without a credit card affiliate link. What the hell is wrong here? All this work and not get compensated, it is just soooooo wrong! Yawn…]
Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class Frankfurt To New York – One Mile at a Time [For a long time, you could have relied on Ben writing these boring nopictures soul less reviews that all look the same without any credit card affiliate links. Not any more. Chase credit card selling right on top. Stay Chase-y, you may get lucky.]
Marriott 70,000 Point Offer still going strong – Running With Miles  [Ok, this is here for a reason. It just goes to show you how disgusted you should all be with all the urgent overly dramatic blog post headlines that the Marriott offer is ending and you would be a damn fool NOT to sign up. Mommy Points had the most ridiculous blog headline “The clock is ticking”. Really?? Well…obviously you all don’t know what you are talking about or were just doing it to get people to sign up so you can make money. Or all of the above. I say “All of the Above”. I win. In my own mind I am a legend, just fyi. Tick Tack BOOM!
The Three Kinds of Value Rewards Cards Offer – View From the Wing  [We post some stuff for diversion purposes, you know, so some people over at TBB do not make fun of us pumping cards. But we can’t do that consistently…so bang, we go back to what we do best: Sell Chase credit cards!]
Save Money on Vacation Using Restaurant.com – Million Mile Secrets [Not sure why, but reading this felt like listening to Prince and his “Party like 1999” hit. Come to think of it, what happened to Prince? Oh I also want to offer my condolensces to Daraius and Emily for the absolute travesty to go a whole blog post without a single credit card affiliate link. It’s just so…so wrong!]
To all the people involved with Frugal Travel Guy (the blog), do you know (in my opinion<—per legal counsel’s advice) why your site is a joke? This is why (per ScottC in post #4 in this Flyertalk thread):
Regardless of any law broken (and it appears that one is not because of the “brought to you by Hertz” disclaimer), this is just plain sleazy and disrespectful to your readers. On the page:
- Sponsored content
- Header banner
- Top banner
- Side banners
- Mid-content banners
- Right column banners
- Bottom right ad
With this, the only actual user generated content is the list of related posts. I’ve never seen anything quite like this.
I would like to offer all the blogs in the Ignore list this prize I was able to buy in my local organic farmer’s market (they are expensive!) for selling them credit cards so well…you deserve it!
Check out my updated blog lists: Blogs I Love, Blogs I Like, Blogs I Ignore
Please pass my blog link to your friends and family if you think they will enjoy it too.

LOL great line, TBB. This is the type of one-liner that keeps us coming back for more.

The Helix carnage continues. Can you all see the hidden arrow pointed to the coffee cup in the TBB photo? Well as a true spy, i am thrilled to report my first finding that this coffee was sponsored by tadatadan (BG music)..
TravelBloggerBuzz says
One day I am going to make a post with MANY huge arrows pointing to the TBB Amazon link just for the hell of it 🙂 Sponsors are welcome anytime…but I have the last word. I turned down the sponsorship request I got via email last night on featuring a product to “grow your breasts naturally”. 🙂

Just a classis post from the Buzzer.
Great advice in the financial mistakes article. I figured out a long time ago that they put “I must be a genius” pills in the coffee at sale closing dinners.
So the FT Mod’s take on the Frugal Travel Guy Hertz write-up was that it was not in violation of the law, but “just plain sleazy”. I wish Rick was still involved over there-you never see this sort of stuff on Mondays.
George-Any chance of getting a signed copy of that picture? I can wait until this weekend, as I know your daughter is in school.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Some people think I am an expert in financial stuff…Little did they know that I am more of an expert on this miles/points stuff lol.
And that was by a Flyertalk moderator! And FT is owned by KKR who owns Internet Brands…last post mailed in asking for advice, it’s all about me me me…Can’t believe they pay for these “articles”, yikes! 🙂 I am not angry.
Let me send your idea to my publicist/agent. Actually, I am thinking about firing his ass as he hasn’t done crap for my site! 21 months now and nobody is approaching me, no offers to buy me out, no offers from banks to sell stuff, no offers for bribed trips…just offers to sell products to “grow your breasts naturally”. Despite all that, I keep soldiering on…for YOU! 🙂
Thanks.

Your last pic brought my mind back to the fall of the Berlin wall as East Germans invaded West Germany and used their first free 100 Mark (first it was the East Germans, now the Greek) to buy ….. bananas.

I was in East and West Berlin in 1987. Glad to see the Wall and the area before it changed for ever. Bananas remind of banana republics…like the Greek one these days!

George, I’m a little concerned that you disclosed your allergy to shrimp publicly. Aren’t you concerned that one of the pumpers out there will send an intern to spike your Panera goodies with shellfish and eliminate the voice of reason and good humor in our hobby?
And if that happens, who will be left to report on it???

While I can always use 120K (or so) HHonors, the $12K spend required to get the VS miles will prevent me from jumping on it. That’s a lot of missed opportunities in that spend.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
While I am typing this I am on hold with Chase Reconsideration Dept to get me approved for the UA Mileage Explorer card (with the $50 statement credit of course). This is for me, wife got it already and min spend met in 1 day.
It never ends…passing on the VS miles too. Maybe if it was 100k it would get me to reconsider 🙂

Love the photo of dad and daughter. Tell Panera to feature it in a customer-of-the-week – no month, no year, uh… decade feature.

Aha, that is the way to monetize at last! Turn to modeling or…the face of Panera lol. Thanks.

I signed up for Avis Preferred using the MC promo link, and saw the message about Avis First enrollment being confirmed within 24 hours. No confirmation for me, and it is now >48 hours later. What, in particular, are you seeing in the welcome email that deserves careful attention?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
The welcome Avis First email took a few days to come. It entitles you to a free 2 day rental (you sill need to pay taxes/fees). I booked mine right away because now that it has been outed they may have plugged it. Booked it for Phoenix WestCoastDO for 2 days and will be upgraded to a very nice card for just $22.52 in taxes/fees. Not a big Avis fan as I find their rates always on the higher side.
