Today it is Saturday. And you are seeing a new post here. Which is a FIRST in a very long time!
Why? Well, I have built a lengthy backlog and I should shorten it a little bit. This will knock off some miles and points posts before having to wait until Monday. This is how I roll 🙂
No worries, I will try to keep it short okay? So you can leave your computer/phone/tablet/ and go enjoy the outdoors! But before you do, why don’t you click on my links?…Okay, I am laughing, I could not resist!
The hobby starts here: The Top 25 Credit Cards by MileNerd. What are we going to do when he stops blogging at the end of the year? Probably the only true non sell out. Unlike me who gave in to such vicious pumping of my affiliate links. Okay, that was funny too. The wine I had, I swear, had absolutely nothing to do with this!
Register for this Hyatt promo if you think you can swing it. Stay 5 nights at Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency hotels. Earn 2,500 Bonus Points now through August 31.
At least Hyatt is listening a little bit and continues to make amends for the awful World of Hyatt rollout. Award Expiration Dates Extended! I understand the changes, you know, were business decisions. The days of us free loading on bennies with these programs are mostly over or ending soon. But the one thing that this program desperately needs is…to scrap the stupid Elite names. WHAT THE HELL….Globalist??? I mean, I just can not resist making fun of these names you guys 😉
As I said, it is getting harder out there. Why Chase shutdowns have increased and how to avoid them.
Actually Chase is making the United MileagePlus Explorer card a decent card now imho. The loss of the 10k miles for $25k spend definitely hurts but adding 2x categories (hotels and restarants) is a very welcome development as pure airlines cards have sucked for a long time!
Again, all the changes coming in the Marriott Rewards and Starwood SPG programs. I wonder what the new name will be, anyone want to guess?
You may get some British Airways Avios miles due to this class action lawsuit settlement: British Airways to pay 2.2 BILLION Avios to settle a US Class Action lawsuit settlement. Nice thing about it is that if you are due a benefit, it will happen automatically and there is NO form to file, hooray!
I am forcing myself to keep this post at no more than 10 links so…you get three more.
Love these photos:Â Historic Photos of NASA’s Cavernous Wind Tunnels.
These are great! In Charts: How American Household Finances are Changing.
Ok, take a song too! Because, you know, I do not mail it in.
And I leave you with this…Not funny. Inspiring. I look at this just before I schedule every TBB post #notreally

A Saturday treat! Thank you.

I should probably stop telegraphing I do not post certain days…
I find it amazing how Cavs complain about ref calls LOL.
Enjoy your weekend, it is cloudy and cooler in SE Michigan today, sad!

Thank you for that s great Saturday post. I attended a focus group in NYC last year regarding the new name for the combined program. None of the three names were exceptionally exciting, one that floated to the top in our group was ‘Bonvio’ or ‘Bonvios’. So you heard it here first, if that becomes the name.
Cheers,
PedroNY

Bonvio/Bonvios, seriously?
I say it will be World of Marriott—————–>Bwahahahahaaha
I should stop looking at my $ clics, last three days:
0

-0.76
Yep, lost money!!!
Rene is laughing. And Ingy…
Me too, sad!
Probably last Saturday post ever, so deflating 🙂
I am going to take it out on my bike next!

You mean, they’re not using Sparriott or Marwood? In a perfect world, they would list all of their brand names back-to-back, since no one can keep them straight between all the chains anyway. That would make for some awesome letterhead.
Nick @ Personal Finance Digest says
Since you included one of my links in today’s post, can I get a cut of that -$0.76?
TBBTheDude says
The accounting dept at TBB is unable to account for credits. We advise you wait until we get back to positive territory…next week. Or month.
Thank you for your patience!

I think you posted the Anna Delvey Vanity Fair post. (I was about to commit to another hour of reading about this freak show but then I figured there can’t be that much new info….I will wait for the television series, which is coming for sure!)
In spite of me not loving your requests for referral clicks, I was saving my next cards for you. But I can’t see anything worthwhile out there. DoC has a curated list of cards but nothing (that I qualify for) jumps out at me. Sorry, Buzz.

…and, unfortunately, in the past several apps I’ve done there have each time been better offers elsewhere (including an app today). Do I get points for trying? (How many?!!)
TBBTheDude says
Thanks for confirming I posted about her before…yeah, it was Vanity Fair indeed. Definite movie material!
Thanks for saving your next cards for me. I don’t like doing requests for clicks too…but losing money REALLY gets to me. Deflates me is more appropriate term. You must admit when I get some clicks I shut up!
Both of you confirm why the Titan bloggers just keep hammering the newbies. There is not much green left to us veterans. I am giving up on that Ink card…maybe it is time to go for a CitiBusinessAA card instead.

What a nice Saturday surprise!
Those Chase shutdowns…crazy. I’m taking a break from Chase apps for the near future. I agree, slimmer pickings for us veterans – TItans are going to keep trying to milk the newbies as much as they can.
Gonna miss Mile Nerd…still curious what he’s planning to do after this year. Also miss Travel Is Free – I still use some of his stuff as my reference tools though portions are becoming out of date. Wish I had the mind for sifting through and explaining stuff as well as he does.
Bonvio!! LMFAO! Sounds like a new prescription drug name!

Anything will be better than World of Hyatt at the end of the day…
I miss the old days…
I blame Ingy…who sold soooooo early 🙂

I couldn’t find a link on your to apply for the new “Travel Blogger plus preferred platinum Visa card” from Bear Stearns Bank that all the blogs are gushing about today!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has a 100k BS points sign up bonus for spending a weekend at an FTU seminar (and paying full price), it also features 3x BS points on google ad purchases, 2x points for hosting fees at boardingarea.com and a 50% discount on FTU t-shirts.
