If you like what you see here, please let others know by passing them a link to my blog, thank you!
This was the slowest weekend ever in the blogosphere!
LOSS OF FLYERTALK LEGEND, MIKE CORDELLI
In case you missed my Sunday post, it was an extremely sad one. Shoot, I am still very sad about it. RIP Mike.
CHALLENGE TO AWARD BOOKING SERVICES!
I have a crazy idea which may get me some free award booking help (intentions fully disclosed!). As many people will be looking to use up their US Air miles can you help me use up mine (will have more than 1 million of AA miles soon!)? And do a guest blog post about it here with backlinks of course? I want my readers to benefit from your expertise showing us some of the most fantastic US Air award values and perhaps help us understand a little what you do for your clients? Put something complicated together for me in First or Business class and make me go Wow! This came to mind just now as I was trying to come up with some content because of the super slow weekend! Here is my situation:
-Award ticket for one. Yes just me, easy! Ditching the family, this is research for my travel blogging business!
-I am very flexible in November (except around Thanksgiving).
-I want to fly the A380.
-Total absence from home no more than 5 days. (maybe 3 or 4 max nights max in a hotel). The focus in on the flying experience and on the ground too (hint:lounges)
-No countries with visas please. No Malaysia or Singapore again. Hong Kong or Thailand or South Korea (DMZ? May be kind of cold!)…surprise me!
-Been to most of Europe, ok for connections to Asia (hint). Australia/New Zealand may be just too much flying, South Africa too?
-Depart from Detroit (DTW). Could depart from O’Hare ORD or NYC airport (prefer not) with positioning flights.
Email me what you come up with at travelbloggerbuzz@gmail.com and I will get back to you. I would like my readers to benefit from this by actually learning something too! If no takers, I will be even more sad!

Congratulations plane, its a boy!
Wow!
MILES/POINTS
Nada. Working on min spends, not that hard at it:-)
ON MY MIND
I have finally managed to get all my vacation pictures together. The ones I am keeping are about 450 pics. So…what do I do about the trip report? Keep the same routine by taking aim to be known as the blogger with the insanely long trip reports? Do I break them down? (hate to be doing them over many many parts as some other bloggers do). I am afraid if I dump them all in one single blog post WordPress will just choke. And as days go by I am forgetting the details…Torn!

BLOG BUZZ
Point me to the Plane, very late to the party, tells all about the SPG Amex offers. Wow, thanks!
I have not yet to see one but apparently there is an affiliate link for Bluebird! View from the Wing had one. I posted this comment there:
Wow, an affiliate link for the Bluebird card?
How come all the others have not jumped on this? Did you get it first? Are we about to be bombarded with such posts now? I am just curious…
Amol (@PointsToPointB) says
If you want to fly the A380 using US miles, the only options are Lufthansa, Singapore, and Thai. Lufthansa will only have biz availability until 15 days out, Singapore won’t have any premium cabin availbility, or you’ll have to fly Thai. So that pretty much limits the scope of searching/routes you need to fly.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
That sure narrows it down, thanks! Well, I can fly Thai on the A380 one way. Since Lufthansa has the time limitation…I can be open on the airline the other way. I think I can pretty much forget about Singapore Air at this point, too much buck for the bang:-)
You are an award booking braintrust!

Your US Airways challenge has been taken up by MileValue! And if you need to top off that US Airways account, he has an affiliate link for an inferior US Airways card offer to sell you! If there was a blogger death penalty, it would probably go to FTG (the blog, not the person). But Life Without Parole would go to MileValue.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Yeah, I marked that to read it. Kind of pisses me off as it may be what I was looking for, minus the crappy US Air cc of course.
I chuckled on your analogy and I know you are not angry;-)

I didnt know Mike other than some FT interaction but its always sad to lose a positive force in our hobby. Some members are just irreplaceable.

Yeah. Why bad things happen to the best people?

a trip to Istanbul would probably be good for you George!
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Thanks for the suggestion. i have been there and loved it. Prefer not to go back, so many other places to explore!

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the Fairmont 2 free night certificates after paying cc bill?
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Remember, the certs are electronic, they will appear in your Fairmont Presidents Club account under “My certificates”.
If I remember well they appeared in my account a lot sooner than the (I think) “four to six weeks” they say. Wild guess, I think it was a few weeks after I satisfied the minimum spend requirement. I remember I was very pleased with the speed!

Thank you! You are the Karnack The Magnificant of Travel Bloggers.

Well, thank you…I think:-)

Did you know that if you stay 4 nights on points at an SPG property, you get the 5th night free?

Buzz take Sweden off your travel plans list, I just read this on the internet, so you know it’s true.

Testicle-Biting Fish Invade Swedish Waters
Men in Sweden are being warned that a cousin of the piranha fish that, according to rumors, has a taste for biting men’s testicles, has been spotted in local waters and that they should be cautious when swimming.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
That sounds totally horrific! It will help tourism in Greece as more Scandinavian women will come on down to get away, if u know what I mean:-)

Spare us the trip report! Ugh. Last thing you need to start “offering” on this blog is trip reports.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
I NEED to offer them to justify my tax deductions, that is the only reason:-)
Oh, I only have tax deductions so far…my $45 revenue will not cut it. Actually, $40 will show up from Bank 1099s so my only revenue is $5 year to date! That’s just awful…I need to do something soon:-)
Please skip my trip reports. I have the longest trip reports on the planet by far! At least I do one and done. I am not going to attack your eye sockets over 79 different parts/posts! Please give me some credit for that, thanks!

Sorry to hear of the passing of your FT friend Mike. That sucks.

Thank you Jen, I appreciate that.
