For your personal finance fix of the day, this one will sure make you think as it is controversial: No Kidding. It is about kids and happiness…or maybe the lack thereof? Hey, I am getting good at click bait, I learn from the best 🙂

A play by play account of how one blogger’s American Airlines AAdvantage account was hacked!
I noticed the dude at Points With a Crew wrote an article at The Points Guy. And another blogger, Double Duty Daddy or something like that wrote one there too. TPG is cornering the family travel market or what? If they could only take out Million Mile Secrets…oh wait, both are owned by the same company, sad!
I noticed this at the churning thread at Reddit. In a way, it is both funny and tragic——->”Thoughts and prayers”
Looks like the Frequent Traveler University (FTU) events are going to be back under the former ownership structure (I think). I guess the sell out to another company did not work out as expected. Maybe they teach how to get around Amex rules…and then the RATs plug them too, sad!
And I leave you with this…You all have a great week!

Thank you for that “No Kidding” article. My wife and I are still deciding on whether we want kids and anything might away us one way or the other. Fortunately/Unfortunately, that article didn’t do it for me, but it is a good point.
ABC says
Any financial adviser would recommend you to NOT have kids. But then, who will pay your SS or the escalating national debt ($1T/year)? You can thank Paul Ryan for that. Yes the guy who kept talking about fiscal responsibility during the Obama years. And then gave a massive tax cut to the top 1% while providing nothing to help parents with the high costs of child care.
Brenton says
I really think it’s one of those things where if you both actively decide you want to have kids, you’ve never going to regret the decision. If one of you is unsure or against it, it’ll definitely cause problems. I’m 34 with a 4 year old, went through a pretty rough divorce that included domestic abuse claims and protection order requests.(both overturned in court at a cost of ~$10k)
I wouldn’t take any of it back if it meant I didn’t end up with the awesome kid I have half the time. I don’t spend any time thinking about what if, so I think that helps. Recently have fallen in love with geography and the idea of going to those places, so that definitely helps. Posting right now from a family room in the Tryp Times Square South, booked with wyndham points. 30k points vs $1400 makes this the best hotel points redemption I’ve ever made.

Brenton-
You’ve got your eye on the right prize. With that attitude, good people and happenings are just around the corner. Probably some decent redemptions too.
Brenton says
Sams,
Crazy ex-wife, but for the most part none of it has been vindictive since the divorce was finalized. He loved new york, and we have Buenos Aires, Mendoza, and Santiago booked for April via AA business class and Latam. Completely worth it with space up front for 3 people the entire trip. (girlfriend and kid, not ex-wife)

Today it’s time to pump the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card.
I got the 100k offer a few years back (match your FF point balance) and have not been able to get it again. Any suggestions?
TBBTheDude says
Yeah….it is everywhere! I bet you all the BA blogs use the same writer…or something 🙂
I got that 100k offer, times 2. Paid for the Carnival cruise we took. First and only cruise so far.
They added Singapore Airlines as a transfer partner…so it looks like the bank is in it for good. Time will tell.
Available with my links…I think, I have not checked. Please do check if anyone goes for it.
In the meantime, I am waiting for JimCramer to issue a stock market alert 🙂
TBBTheDude says
Oh wait…The transfer to Singapore Airlines is 1000 points to 500 miles. LOL

For the record, Paul Ryan should never be written in the same sentence with fiscal conservative unless it contained a “NOT”!
Yeah, both must be all in for kids. Or not. Life changes when they come. We are blessed so far with two good kids, well, one is 21 lol. Could have become financially independent way earlier if they were not around 🙂 So I could blog on weekends only…only to change mind to blog on weekdays too, woohoo!
Mommy Points is pushing hard the 25k Amex Gold card again….she says this bonus is good for her family…Lying ^%(%$#!
And Emily is just going all out holding plastic, now with pet dog pics too…smh.

Buzz-
Mommy Points speaks the truth. That 25k Amex card is good for her family. Just not so good for yours or mine.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
she is not done yet! Just an hour ago again:
“Transfers are live, bonus is up, please say you have gotten this card, or do it now. Like right now.”
Feeling a little stressed on meeting the conversion quota this month or what?
