I am not following this blog but I have seen it in SO many places online and I was always wondering if he has a life outside the blog. Making it online can be brutal. The temperatures at Rig-e Jenn can be very dangerous. In the summer, it can get up to 125 degrees Fahrenheit. Luckily for Flensted, they went in the off season — dealing with weather in the in high 70s during the day and low 40s throughout the night.

So, this is how it goes down… A blogger, in this case Will Run For Miles, discovers a way to find availability for Hyatt Points & Cash rates. When that happens and a blogger decides to let his/her readers know, the right thing to do is to post the BACKLINK prominently on top so they know where it came from. Right? Good job to both Miles to Memories and Frequent Miler for doing this. One Mile at a Time went on and on about it and buried the backlink somewhere in the middle of the post. You know how the attention span of the readers of that blog is so short….most probably missed it. Most reacted “wow, what an expert” blah blah blah…And on it goes, Titanhood folks! I guess it is an improvement from burying the backlink at the bottom (slimy) or not posting one at all (super slimy!)

Another case study for the best award price finder. Here is a good synopsis from Frequent Miler:

  • AwardAce: Most polished. This is the tool I most wanted to like, but also the tool with the most grievous errors.
  • FlyerMiler: Probably my favorite tool of the bunch. I love that it shows available routes. Unfortunately, the tool is currently missing a few very important programs.
  • Milez.biz: Most comprehensive results with, by far, the most programs included in the results. Transfer partner info seems to be out of date.  Missing a few key programs.
  • Travel Codex’s Award Chart Search Tool: Simplest tool with useful and concise information about each of the few programs that it supports.
  • Ultimate Frequent Flyer Mile Award Calculator: Geekiest tool. Best single concise display of results. Missing a number of key programs.

Everyone relax, I should be angry, but I am not. Really 🙂

    Wait… so renting your car to complete strangers brokered by a third party could have negative consequences? Ya don’t say!

      I can’t believe people still drop off their cars with or rent from FlightCar. I tried them out on a verys short trip from SFO and luckily, no one rented my car. I thought it was great – no one rents the cars and I get free parking. I then parked with them on a 5-day trip from Seattle and while my car was rented, again, luckily, nothing happened to the car. But I never got paid and they had taken everything out of my car and I had to put it back in in the cold. Not worth saving $10 per day.

      I have a first cousin in the island who is a kindergarten teacher. Name is Christina. I have not seen her since we were about 8 years old. I am sure we have changed..a little! Enjoy!

    Dear Points Guy, Wow I did not realize you are so tall. TPG, please tell me what credit cards I should apply for ( with your affiliate links, of course)? I am going to Cleveland in July for the Republican National Convention to riot for Trump if he is cheated out of the nomination.         I wasted 5 minutes of my life on that for you all 🙂

        I learned I can earn miles by enrolling in the airline’s dining program and registering a credit card! We are talking pure brilliance wow!

    Converted my CSP to Freedom Unlimited via secure message/phone. Now have the Ink+, Freedom and FU. Had to move credit around since FU is a Visa Signature (I didn’t realize that), which requires 5K minimum credit line limit. Not too bad.

    So, TPG’s “editor in chief” Zach applied for the FU card with the “knowledge” of 5/24 and got declined in branch, then tried a phone application and his application is pending under review. WTF… why would you waste an inquiry on your credit report if you are past the 5/24? *facepalm*

    I mean, isn’t the “unfair” way of getting the Companion Pass pretty much already dead-ish now that Chase is restricting card churning so tightly?

    Beyond that, I know folks are going to plow on through by doing point transfers and a heck of a lot of shopping, but this has to kill off 80% of the unprofitable Companion Passes right there, right?
