It appears that the rumors were true. Chase now has a new Unlimited Ink Business Cash credit card with an initial signup bonus of 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points. I bet the Ink Cash business cards (also offering 50k) may be going extinct soon so hurryyyyyyyyyyyy to get them with my links, gracias! #smooth It always amazes me how the blogs specializing in credit card sales stay quiet about the new cards UNTIL they get their hands on their affiliate links, sad! Having said that, this card is available with my links. Make your clicks count, help small blogs that you want to survive!

Hey look, I am no Top 40 music kind of guy. I have very weird music taste. I prefer to say it is eclectic instead though 🙂 Hopefully, you learn something NEW and may enjoy it. If not, there is always Justin Bieber and Rick Astley I guess lol.
Looks like Million Miles Secrets has a blog reader meetup in Austin, Texas. I am so sad I did not get invited! #notreally.
So I got tickets to fly to San Jose, CA later in the summer to go see son and finally get a tour of where he interns at Facebook headquarters. Got to use $200 of Southwest vouchers. Three tickets one way at about $110 each, we ‘ll take it. But we have done nothing else. So then I got thinking…How about we go to Kauai, the only main Hawaiian island we have not been. I thought about going to Cancun and visiting the magnificent Fairmont Mayakoba resort to burn my final three free nights there but, you know, the violence in the Riviera Maya concerns me and I am not sure August is the best time to be there. I thought about maybe making it to San Diego to visit the other magnificent Fairmont Del Mar property there and fly back to Detroit from there. Any ideas? My girls would like more beach/swimming pool time…Thanks in advance.
This is deeper stuff for travel hackers: Is the Points & Miles Game Just a Huge Waste of Time? Like, you know, if what we are doing is worth it. I gotta tell you the threshold of pain I am willing to tolerate in this hobby has diminished; I no longer sweat the small stuff as I continue to simplify my life. Like I stopped being negative around here lol. And deleting Business Insider from my Feedly feeds. I should do that for The Points Guy which I believe is aiming to become the Business Insider of all things travel and more…basically keep throwing “content” on their site NON STOP. I say enough! And I like this quote from Dan who I think reads my blog too:
…in it to improve his quality of life — nothing more, nothing less. I think that’s the right attitude to take. I worry sometimes, though, that we are creating more distractions, more anxiety and more bloat in our spending due to this game we play. Striking a balance is key, and it’s something I’m striving for.
And I leave you with this…

Congratulations to India on their toilet achievements!

Thank you for blogging, I appreciate it. I agree with you, sweating the small stuff is not worth it, just go for big bonuses and enjoy the rest. Congratulations on your commitment to weight loss and healthy living, going out on your runs, well done. I been simplifying as well, staying healthy, reaching the lowest weight of my adult life, still find some time to sign up for credit cards and traveling.
Kauai is a great island, the southern shore is less rainy than the north, it is definitely worth a visit. We spent 2 weeks there in 2017, very enjoyable trip.
Cheers,
PedroNY

Kauais also the only major Hawaiian island we haven’t visited yet. It’ll probably be where we target the next time we go to the islands. Certainly looks gorgeous.

Is DML the new ScottCastle? 🙂
Huge toilet accomplishment, no shit lol.
Need to get to Kauai but no tengo tiempo to put it together. Because. TBBing and stuff like that 🙂
Funny thing that has happened is…I get full now after eating a lot less…which is weird.
So far so good… #developing
Yuge day with Amazon link yesterday, thank you!
Haven’t had a cc click that paid in weeks. The day they kick me out is near….er.

I’ve been working on weight loss the past year or so. Down 20 lbs – need to shed 5 more though 10 would be even better. I’ve found that a lot of times I also feel satisfied with less. Though there are certain times, or certain days, where I just feel ravenously hungry for no apparent reason. I read once that it takes about 20 minutes after eating before your brain totally registers as being full (or partially full) so I’ve found if (a big “if”) I can force myself to not grab that dessert right after eating, I can put off snacking for longer.
This time I’ve been keeping up resistance training 3-4 times a week as well, which I think is helping. At the very least it’s good for preventing a loss of muscle mass while burning the weight.

I dream of pizza these days. I allow a cheat day per month. To increase to two days per month at some point.
Got to make it a lifestyle change instead of a diet. I am convinced of that now. It is a process 🙂

This just in:
Wolf is on CNN saying that Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller is “Done with George Papadopoulos” and is now going to begin the sentencing process. I hope Buzz will let us know what kind of coffee the Australian ambassador liked.
And I just realized-as Mueller was wrapping up his putting the squeeze on Buzz, Ingy hasn’t posted here for weeks. Hmmmmm-draw your own conclusions.
We house sat near Hanalei in north Kauai for a month just after we retired. Hiked the Kaukalau trail twice-look it up. Eleven miles over two days with heaven at the end. An Outward Bound instructor we met there said it was the toughest trail he ever hiked.
Kauai is just so cool, but you gotta leave just about everything else behind to spend a lot of time there. NFL games start at 7:30 in the morning. With Mai Tais, though. And Trump is still the President. But they don’t care that much-Pele will win in the end.
TravelBloggerBuzz says
Sounds good…time to get that George guy sentenced so the Google Alert on that name quiets down finally!
Will do my best to get to Kauai…maybe them BA miles flying Alaska Airlines from the Bay area can come through for a change 🙂

The truth comes out about Ingy at last!!

Come to San Diego and invite me to brunch at Del Mar, I’m only 15 minutes away.
For swimming, the water in August should be pretty warm, especially for people from Michigan 🙂
But Kauai is also awesome.
TBBTheDude says
Not sure what we would do as of now….Only have tickets to SJC booked, nothing else yet!
Still plan to come to SAN in early February for a conference.

I am going to pick on you a little bit—I know you can take it in stride!
“I thought about going to Cancun and visiting the magnificent Fairmont Mayakoba resort to burn my final three free nights there… I thought about maybe making it to San Diego to visit the other magnificent Fairmont Del Mar property there… ”
This is the kind of backwards thinking that this hobby has us doing–and something I have to fight against all the time (when I see myself doing it!).
Doesn’t it make more sense to pick the place you want to go to first, rather than where the hotel deal is? TBH, I suppose if one of the hotel places is a great deal and was on your bucket list anyways, then it could be the little push you need to book it…
But, otherwise, it is a case of mixed-up priorities. Just my opinion! Don’t flame me. 🙂
P.S. Pick Kauai. You will find a way to go their affordably and it might be the last chance you have when your daughter will actually want to go with you there. Time marches on, the kids will leave the nest before you know it, and your vacations will change to just the 2 of you. Don’t be cheap!
Raj says
I agree with bluecat here (at least about San Diego). I personally wouldn’t go to Kauai or San Diego in the summer when you have warm weather locally, but that’s my preference. I grew up in Southern California, but live in Seattle now and I basically make it a point to go to Hawaii and back home every winter when it’s dark and rainy as hell here. If you don’t have a real desire to go to SD and are just going to use Fairmont nights, I’d say pick a place you genuinely want to go to rather than making a detour for no good reason.
That said, I agree with everyone else that Kauai is gorgeous. I’ve been to every major Hawaiian island and Kauai is the most beautiful. Very quiet, but lots of natural activities to enjoy all around the island.
TBBTheDude says
Guys:
Remember, we are all different 🙂
I agree with your reasoning of course. BUT (there is always a but)…you are neglecting an individual constraint that I have.
The 3 free Fairmont nights have an expiration date!!!!
And with school starting in September and me likely going back to Greece in November and December…this may be the last chance to really burn them in a smashing kind of way, you know 🙂
Yeah, August is definitely not the best time to go to Hawaii I understand…
I haven’t done crap yet. I first need to book my wife a hotel night in Niagara Falls, her sister is visiting with her husband for a few days and want to go see it.
So many points to burn…decisions, decisions 🙂
bluecat says
This hobby makes us do weird things!
“Where are you going on vacation?” asks your friend.
“Dunno, yet. Depends on where I can use my free hotel night certificates.”
Friend has confused look on his face…(unless friend plays this game, in which case, there is a knowing look.)
TBBTheDude says
Yeah…something like that…
Still going to see son in the Bay area…
This is why I like points straight up instead of them free nights with the stinking expiration dates that mess up my brain cells…Having said that…if it was a Marriott or Hyatt Cat 4 nights…I would not care much at all but we are talking about Fairmont!!
rxgeek says
These stats are a lot of crap. From what I’ve read, you can give an Indian a toilet but that doesn’t mean they will use it.

That was a full load man 🙂

Buzz-
Will TBB have a link to get some of those coins commemorating the Trump-Kim summit?
http://time.com/5286511/us-north-korea-summit-coin/
Which credit card should I use? I’m thinking the Chase Sapphire Reserve since it has trip interruption coverage.
TBBTheDude says
Hope no one scaled those coins lol
Brad says
You can always liquidate those Fairmont nights and use that cash for excursions in Kauai. Usually get $250 + on DansDeals
